Biography


Life Testimony of Roy Anthony Copeland, son of the late David R. Copeland and Annie Ophelia Bonner was born in Norfolk, Virginia on October 5, 1941. He lived his formative years in Washington, North Carolina and graduated from P.S. Jones High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve and was honorably discharged. Washington is where he met and married his love of life, Ellen Sue, (Predeceased) of 53 years. A son, Maurice (Predeceased) was born of this union. Roy and Ellen moved and lived in New Jersey for many years. There, Roy attended the Sigma Business College School of Business Machines. Roy worked as a computer operator for Exxon Mobil Corporation. Roy and Ellen relocated and retired to Magnolia, Texas.


Roy enjoyed a unique life marked with his love for cars.  On any given day, Roy could be found tinkering with one of his many cars or riding his John Deere mower. He was a man of few words but devoted to his family.


Roy will be remembered by his grandchildren; Teyvian, Terrence, and Tamara Copeland; a daughter in-law Tracy Yett (Shawn); brother Dino Bonner, sister-in-law Zula F. Bailey, brother-in-law, Wendell Hodges (Cynthia), a niece Vivian H. Jones, nephews Andrew R. Harris Jr, Tony Baily (Dorothy), and DeShawn Chaplin, a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
