Aunty Ngozi! ED! Where do I start? This all seems so unreal.

I was introduced to you by mum, your friend of 44 years, over two years ago and in those two years I got to know you not just as an employer but as an aunty, a friend and a confidante.

I always told anyone that cared to hear that walking into your office was like walking into NewYork from Lagos. Your room was filled with the biggest dreams and the biggest possibilities. You saw no limitations. To you everything could be done so long as you talked the talk and you walked the walked. Marketing 101.

You taught me to be brave, bold and unapologetic about my pursuit for a better life.

You were an open book - you shared your happiness and life lessons with anyone that you came in contact with.

You saw the good in all and wished nothing but the best for humankind.

Let’s not even get started on your generosity. To you, money was no object and an opportunity to make someone’s life better was your life’s purpose.

Aunty I am going to miss you so much but I know that the memories and life lessons you have imparted on me will give me strength as the days go on.

I am grateful to God for letting me experience you as a person; an illustration of his good works.

Rest in Perfect Peace my darling , beautiful, larger than life Ms.Ogunwa.

I love you forever.

Your “Girl”,

Adenike Aderogba

I am still shocked as I write this.
We all know this life is ephemeral but this is rather shocking.

We were always very helpful and so full of life & laughter. I should have know that the lack of response to
my last WhatsApp message to you was not in your character.

Still so unbelievable but what can one do…

Rest in peace dear Ngozi. Your labour shall never be in vain. You have touched so many lives positively and this is recorded in Heaven.

I pray for strength for your Mother and for your daughter, your pride and joy.

Rest in peace my dear Sister.

Totally shocked still…

It first started like a joke! As usual, I came around your office and wanted to say hi as you would always tease me if you later found out I was around and didn’t stop by. So I was told you were not in as you were a bit sick. I didn’t take it seriously. I just brushed it aside and concluded I will see you when next I visit. I never even bothered to know the severity of the illness. I thought it was one of those “am tired”, “I need rest” kind of stuff. I never knew it was something serious.
I was horrifically shocked when I was told you had passed. I mean I couldn’t comprehend it. Are you guys joking or what? How can? That’s not true! I retorted. But the bearer insisted. Then it began to look like it’s true. In the end, it was indeed the truth.
I miss your smiles, your gists, your kindliness. Your love for your daughter, Shiloh. Your sense of justice, equity and fairness. Above all your friendliness.

Continue to Rest In Peace NG Baby as we always tease you.

Farewell my dear friend!!!

Goz my darling, (as I fondly called you)
I never thought in my wildest dream that I will be writing a farewell message for you my junior friend and sister. Our first meeting had a chemistry I can't explain as I took you in totally. You were bubbly and full of life so what went wrong.

The last time we spoke you were asking me to come back from the UK quickly that you missed me.

Wetin come happen to you that you just exited without a farewell. You sure will be sorely missed especially the way you call my name and your laughter.
Oh death where is thy sting.

Rest on my little sister until resurrection day that we shall experience no more sorrow.

Ngozi, what happened I keep asking myself? I remember exactly where I was when I saw messages coming in on our FLOGA WhatsApp group and knew somebody died, but little did I know it was my dear friend and sister, who was my school sister in Federal Langtang and always protected me. We connected instantly in Langtang probably stemming from the fact that our fathers knew each other and we had something in common. I still remember our last conversation vividly and our conversation the last time I was in Nigeria. How we planned to see each other but the time constraints made it impossible since I had to leave for the US the next day and when I returned to the US, we spoke on the phone and had plans to reconnect. I was looking forward to seeing you and spending time with you when I come to Lagos this year. Little did I know I had already missed that opportunity. You were always loving, caring, protective, a wonderful human being and I can see a lot of people feel the same way. You will really be missed and saying this I wonder what it feels like for your mother, your daughter, your siblings and other loved ones. If there is one lesson I have learnt from your death, it is to never procrastinate and to spend and cherish time with your loved ones. Ngozi, you were more than a friend to me, you were more like my senior sister. I will miss you always and will still question, what happened and why you at this time of your life? May your soul Rest In Peace.

Anty NG, may your soul rest in perfect peace. You were a kind soul, so kind that people complained you were too kind, you gave many second chances, you were so innocent about the ways of the world, you simply wanted to live a good life and leave great legacies. But the testimonies I have read about you shows that it pays to be that good. May all your goodness intercede for you on that day! I saw you in April, i didnt realise that was the last time we would be meeting but God knows best, why you had to go at this time. Continue to rest in perfect peace great woman. I am so broken and I truly do not know what to write. When I heard, all I could say was "I am finished." Ogunwa, we had plans, solid plans. Why? I have called you Ogunwa or Twinny for over 40years. We met as two little girls in Langtang and quickly formed a bond that time and distance could not pierce. You were such a special gem, that everyone who met you felt comfortable and loved. Your calmness and smile resolved a lot of issues. Ogunwa, I am broken. What do I tell Mummy, our daughter or your siblings? Last year, when I lost my beloved Dad, you were by my side. You did not mourn with me from a distance. Once you confirmed my travel plans, you made yours. You left work and all, not caring about the questions of insecurity in the East, and spent 5days with my family and I. We played around as if we were little girls. We hugged and shared so much. Our sillness, while having our face beat-up is to die for. You followed me to my village, stayed with me and made sure I was okay. My family loved you so much. To my Mom, you were her 4th daughter. You were truly an Angel amongst us.Twinny, you were that sister that will defend a sister in and out of her presence. Shiloh, our daughter was the love of your life. Sharing her amazing accomplishments brought so much joy to you. Her stage performance, brought so much joy to you. Thank you for being the best Mom, to Shiloh. I promise to keep your memory alive with her. What do I tell Mummy? I couldn't answer her questions when she asked for me. All I know is that God is still God. Please forgive me, if I am rambling because I am still numb and confused. You did your best to keep your life simple and dedicated to God. I am eternally grateful because you knew and accepted Jesus. My Ogunwa, my Twinny, my sister, I wish I could hear your voice one more time, ask you many more questions. The promise I made to you in February 2022, I will keep. Rest In Peace great FLOGAITE. Heaven has gained an Angel. RIP!

On her Birthday this year I shared how I missed her as mother now that I'm married and I prayed for her. As usual, she smiles and appreciate God for using her to build up a boy now a man. I would have been on the street of Abuja but she took me as the first adopted Son, sent me to school paid my bills for several years, my Oracle certificate was paid of once without asking questions. I told her whenever we chat that I will make her proud thinking she'll see his adopted son doing great and wonders. But who I'm I to question God. The past 48 hours have been fraught with anger and sadness. Dual opposing emotions. 'Uche, so you won't even cry?' I hear you say. 'You are so weird, white man' Yes, in my stubbornness. 'I am not surprised, that's him...see this my younger brother' you would say. Yes ma... A lasting legacy I have gleaned from you is EMPATHY. Sitting in your office for hours at a time (Yes, madam can arrest your attention) , I also learnt compromise. How attention can change the trajectory of someone's day, and advice can guide for a lifetime. A woman of faith, kindness, motherly instinct and uncompromising in opinion and truth. God bless you ma, may you eternally rest in peace and love lift all those you touched. Amen.

Ngozi, I am already missing you. I know that God has a greater plan for you. The first time Chioma introduced us we instantly became Sisters. I love the joy that radiates from your smile. I remember exactly where I was standing the first time we met and I remember exactly where we were standing when I last saw you in the US. I remember our last conversation on What’s app. I will cherish all the gifts you bought me and all the love you showed me and all the encouragement in Christ that you sowed in me. You will never be forgotten. Love You

Our Good God choose to call you back to Him to celebrate with Him forever. We are sad and shocked but choose to remember the good, fun times with you, your laughter, your sweet easy going, caring nature. Never a dull moment with you around. You always looked out for others, always encouraging one to try! Dordor as you

Our Dearest Ngozi ,without much warning, you have moved onward towards the vicinity of your Lord and God. It’s an understatement to say those who have been blessed with your friendship are greatly pained with your departure.During your hospitalization we had looked forward to your eventual recovery and boasted of the grand party after your discharge for a bountiful Thanksgiving . Alas it wasn’t meant to be in the Will of The Lord and we have been denied that comfort. We will remember Ngozi in the many ways she touched our life through her uncommon loyalty to friendship. I shall always treasure the deep spiritual exchanges we had during the visits to the hospital.May The Loving Grace of The Lord eternally abide with you in your new experiencing, Amen
