Matthew loved his family and friends well.  He always enjoyed making people laugh.  He also had a special gift for connecting with children of all ages.  He loved to make them laugh too.  His nieces and nephews loved this about him. He will be deeply missed.

I met Matt when we were kids in Scouts. In high school we worked on the summer yard crew at the hospital in McAlester together. We were roommates my sophomore year in college. He was the best man at my wedding. Over the years we have gone to concerts, movies, Thunder games, spent afternoons looking at new cars, and generally just hung out a lot.

He was the oldest friend I’ve kept in contact with and that was in large part due to Matt. He had a very real gift for reaching out and keeping in touch with people. My last contact with him was August 24. It was just a brief text conversation about a joke he sent. He was always sending goofy jokes and silly memes. That was just Matt, he was a funny, kind guy, and a good friend. I miss him immensely.

I only had a chance to meet Matt this summer at our family reunion. I’d heard so much about how fun he was. He was a great guy that I talked with that day for a long time and was able to play some spoons with. He was up in IL by our house this past summer and I wish we could have connected. He will be missed!

Knew Matt from high school. Ran into him again a few years ago and have kept in touch with him since. We share a love of OU football and funny memes. My husband and I met up with him several times in OKC and sometimes just caught up with him by video call. He is such a great guy, funny, and a thoughtful friend. He went to Spokane once and brought me and my husband (also named Matt, which was a constant joke lol) souvenirs. Gosh, I’m going to miss him. Sending hugs and prayers to his family.

Matthew was my oldest cousin and I thought he was the coolest person ever. Despite being the oldest and being constantly bombarded with little cousins who wanted him to play, I never remember Matt having a bad attitude or being anything but fun. We played a lot of games. Matthew was terrible at Sardines, his laugh would always give it away. He would do anything to win at Spoons (including some creative cheating) and would encourage all kinds of antics during penny poker. Matt had a quick witted comeback for every situation. I remember being with Aunt Carol Ann and Matt asked her what we were doing. She said, “dragging Main” and he responded, “Oh, that’s why we’re going so slow.” I will remember Matt as loving, loyal, and good hearted with a quick wit and an unforgettable laugh. We sure are going to miss that guy.

My first memory of Matthew was when we moved two doors down and my Matt and Matthew became best friends. I remember one time when Matt came home with money in his pocket. I asked him where he had gotten it. His answer floored me, he had said l sold Matthew some rocks I had found. I immediately told him to take the money back. As far as I know he never did that again. I had to laugh afterward. He was Matt’s first best friend. I miss those days.

I have so many great memories with Matt m, but on my high school graduation we took a pic together. He gave me a copy of the photo a few days later with a sweet note on the back of it. I still have it and will treasure it always.

Even though I didn’t get to see Matthew grow up, he was one of my favorites in Sunday School when he was very young. He had such a sweet soul. So very sorry to hear of his passing. I know he loved his family deeply.

One day Tracy cooked a brisket on the grill for hours. It was our plan to eat it for supper the next day. Well, the boys had a different plan. Matt and Greg had spent the night here with Brandon and Jason. When Tracy came home from work that day there was barely enough for him a sandwich. They threw Matt under the bus and the other three said he ate almost all of it even tho they told him no too.

I had the honor of serving with Matt in the US Coast Guard while stationed in South Portland, ME. He was a great friend and someone I would always refer to as a brother. I am grateful for the times I had with him, either in the military or visiting him in Oklahoma. Matt will be missed!
