Zhiping Tu

This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Zhiping Tu. Zhiping (Penny) Tu, 71, passed away on August 14, 2020, at Calvary Hospital in Bronx NY, with her husband by her side. Zhiping was born August 25, 2020, in Shanghai, China, to a large family with 7 siblings. With little more than determination and perseverance, she moved to the US to pursue her American dream, at the young age of 35. With her love for science and technology, Zhiping worked at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory for almost 8 years. She then transitioned to a system administrator at the Murray Hill Medical Group, then promoted to IT manager. Zhiping made long lasting friendships everywhere she worked. Outside work, she enjoyed hiking and camping the woods around New York and the tri-state area. She especially loved the colors of leaves in the fall. With her husband, Jack, they cultivated a plentiful vegetable garden. Zhiping is survived by her husband of 26 years, and her step children whom she loved dearly. We will remember her always.
