Yves René

Yves René of Grand Goave, Haiti, has taken his final bow on the stage of life.

His last curtain call was on Wednesday, October 28, 2020. He is survived by his wife Yanick, his sister Yolande, his children Yvon, Liliane, Josyanne and Katryna, his sons-in-law, grandchildren, a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces and numerous cousins. He was a devout Catholic. 

In 1999, Yves moved back to New York from Haiti with his family, where he lived for 21 years in Harlem's Sugar Hill neighborhood. He enjoyed acting in shows, movies and plays, visiting the NY Public Library, bookstores, museums, parks, and churches. His hobbies included filming and photography, but his passion was the written word.

He translated Shakespeare's works into Haitian Kreyòl and wrote many plays. Acting was his calling. One of his favorite gigs was working on Saturday Night Live. His celebration of life service was held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 30 at Saint Catherine of Genoa Catholic Church in New York.
