Remembering a life well-lived...

Yolanda “Yollie” Evelyn Misa was a caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, auntie and a friend. She passed away on October 1, 2021, with her family by her side.

Yollie was born to Mamerto Valera Timog and Aurora Sanchez Timog on April 5,1952. She graduated high school in the year of 1968 at Southeastern College in Pasay City, Philippines. She attended University of Santo Thomas where she obtained her degree in Bachelor of Arts and Management in the year of 1972. She furthered her education at Golden State University in San Francisco, California where she received her Business Administration Degree in 1974.

On January 4th, 1975, she married her high school sweetheart, Rodrigo Misa at San Isidro Parish Church in Pasay City, Philippines. Yollie had three children: Roderick Allan, Rea Darlyn and Randy Mert Misa (+). She is survived by her husband, Rod, Eric (son) with Prim, Rea (daughter) with Justin,  two grandsons (whom she adored so much): Ian Gabriel and Azariah Riley. She is also survived by Linda (sister), Aurora (sister) and Mamerto Jr. (brother) with their respective families.

Yollie juggled her time raising her kids while working full time. She brought her skills to North Davao Mining Corporation in Makati, Philippines where she was an Accounts Payable Supervisor for 13 years. She immigrated to the United States in March 1995 with her husband and children. After settling in San Francisco, California, she worked at Lucky Money as an Administrative Clerk for over 10 years. She retired in 2009. Yollie then started working part time at Kohl’s and gushed about the many times she became an Associate of the Month. Yollie found lifelong friends, and to some, turned family through all her ventures.

The simplest pleasure in life brought great joy to Yollie. She loved spending time with her family, spoiling her grandsons, cooking delicious food, catching up with her friends and shopping. She lived in faith and was a devout Catholic. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities and her bubbly personality was contagious to everyone she met.

Yollie will always be remembered by her kindness, generosity and heartwarming personality. Her courage, strength and unconditional love will remain in her family’s hearts forever.

Yollie (first from the left) in an earlier group photo with a few of us visiting with our Class Adviser Mrs. Teresita Alcova Garcia at her place in Nichol’s Air Base, Pasay City. We were all second year university students at the time here and whenever there was a chance to get together, we were there if the timing was right for anyone who could join in. These were very exciting times for all of us and Yollie would make it a point to be there. -1969-1970, Pasay City, Philippines

Another souvenir photo of Yollie and Rod with her cousins from her mother’s side of the family who came to our reunion and joined in the celebration…truly not a moment wasted to be with family for that’s a big part of her vacation to the Philippines. -SEC’68 Golden Jubilee Reunion, April 3, 2018

Yollie as seen here in this photo, in a sing-along with some of our batch mates doing an impromptu number (the title of the song escapes me right now) during our April 2018 Golden Jubilee Reunion, Day 2 Festivities held at Island Cove, Kawit, Cavite. Hubby Rod had joined in with the group. She was there just being in the moment of fun and laughter and singing. She always said that her high school days were the best times she had.

Yollie with our classmate, Lorna Vergara Perez for a souvenir snapshot - these two mothers and grandmothers are practically neighbours back in California where they both raised their families; their respective husbands, Rod and Art, in the background, -SEC’68 Golden Jubilee Reunion, April 2, 2018

Yollie was always an active participant in any get-together or gathering of family and friends. She’s not one to sit around in social events as shown in this photo. -SEC’68 Golden Jubilee Reunion, April 3, 2018

A souvenir group photo of the girls of SEC Class 1968 who made time to attend the 2-day festivities of the Golden Jubilee Reunion on April 2-3, 2018 celebrated back home in the Philippines, in Noveleta, Cavite. Yollie and Rod travelled from their home base in the San Francisco area to join in the fun, see old friends, renew acquaintances, reminisce the good old days of youth and carefree activities and everything in between. Yollie was seated second from the right beside Aida Laserna.
