Biography
Victoria Funmilayo Ayinke Sanni entered this world on October 1st, 1952, into the household of Pa Samuel Fadeyi. Her formative years were spent under the care of her late father, Pa Samuel Fadeyi, shaping her into the resilient woman she became. Commencing her primary school education in 1960 at Oke-Ona United Primary School, Ikija, Iberekodo Abeokuta North Local Government Area, she eventually progressed to Okeona Secondary School. Her thirst for knowledge led her to pursue Grade 2 teacher’s training at Ogun State College of Education, Ijebu Ode, in 1978. She embarked on her teaching career at St. Michael Primary School, Ijare, Ifedore Local Government, from July 7th, 1978, to September 30th, 1979, laying the foundation for her future endeavors.
Venturing into the realm of education, Victoria pursued higher teaching qualifications and obtained her National Certification in Education (N.C.E) in 1987. She embarked on a fulfilling career as a teacher, teaching in various settings, including primary and secondary schools in Ogun State. She spent most of her teaching career at Reverend Kuti Memorial Grammar School and Baptist Girls College.
Love blossomed in her life when she joined hands in marriage with her husband, the late Benjamin Mobereola Sanni, and together they were blessed with two remarkable daughters, Oluwatoyin Oyelami and Oluwabukola Adeduro. Despite the demands of motherhood, Victoria's thirst for knowledge remained unquenchable. Single-handedly navigating the waters of parenthood, she pursued her Bachelor’s degree in Education in 1995 at the University of Ilorin, followed by a Master’s degree in Education (Educational Management/Administration) in 2003 at Ambrose Alli University.
Victoria epitomized the essence of a hardworking mother, juggling multiple roles to ensure the well-being and education of her children. From dawn till dusk, she labored tirelessly, balancing her teaching duties with additional tutoring sessions to make ends meet. Her sacrifices bore fruit as both her daughters thrived in their chosen careers.
Renowned for her prowess as a Social Studies teacher, Victoria's impact resonated deeply with her students, many of whom stand as a testament to her dedication and excellence. Climbing the ranks of her profession, she achieved the esteemed position of Zonal Secretary, culminating a remarkable 35-year career before retiring in 2013.
In her twilight years, Victoria found solace in the embrace of family, spending her final decade in the United States alongside her daughter and grandchildren. Throughout her journey, her unwavering love, faith, and belief in God remained steadfast. In moments of triumph, she praised His grace, and in times of sorrow, she sought solace in His comforting presence.
On May 25th, 2024, at 5:03 am, Victoria Funmilayo Ayinke Sanni peacefully departed this world at Palmdale Regional Hospital in California, USA. As she closed her eyes for the final time, she embraced the serenity that transcends mortal understanding, secure in the loving embrace of the God she served faithfully until her last breath. Though she leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, Victoria is survived by her two daughters and grandchildren, a testament to a life well-lived and deeply cherished.

Ogunji Michael Oluwasegun
In Loving Memory of Mrs. Sanni Victoria Olufunmilayo (Iya Sanni) It is with a heavy heart that I, Michael Ogunji, reflect on the passing of Iya Sanni on May 25, 2024. Iya Sanni was more than just a social studies teacher in our secondary school, she was a beacon of kindness, inspiration, and love. Her dedication to her students and her genuine care for everyone around her made a lasting impact on all of us. Her home was always open, a true testament to her accommodating and generous nature. She had a unique way of making everyone feel valued and welcome, irrespective of their age, whether you were a friend, a student, or a neighbor. Her kindness was boundless, and her wonderful spirit touched countless lives. As the mother of my childhood friends (Toyin and Christiana), she became a second mother to me, always ready with a listening ear and wise advices. She would also spank us when we misbehaved; she doesn't take nonsense. Her life was a shining example of what it means to live with compassion and grace, and her legacy continues to inspire me every day. I was so surprised and honored when you visited my house with your entire family upon your return from abroad. Me? Waooo!!! A small boy like me? Who am I? Honestly, I wasn't expecting such a visitation from someone of your status and caliber. Thank you for all the gifts and for making me feel so special; you treated me like I was your firstborn with Toyin and Bukky, my siblings. Remembering the taste of your various delicious foods alone makes me salivate and yearn for more. You will be remembered forever, Iya Sanni. Though you may no longer be with us in person, but your memory lives on in my heart and those who knew and loved you. Your influence extends far beyond the classroom and home, shaping the values and lives of many of us today. You will forever be remembered for your kindness, your warmth, and your unwavering love. Rest in peace, Iya Sanni. You are dearly missed, but your spirit lives on in all of us. With heartfelt sympathy and love, Michael Ogunji & Family
