"I'm saying this is the South. And we're proud of our crazy people. We don't hide them up in the attic. We bring 'em right down to the living room and show 'em off. See, Phyllis, no one in the South ever asks if you have crazy people in your family"
The quote above is from the sitcom Designing Women. It was often repeated by my sweet mama, Tracy Kiser. She especially loved the ending "They just ask what side they are on." My mom loved both sides of her family, crazy and all. She was the oldest of four siblings, Wesley, Ricky, and Sandra who were all born to the kindest and most loving parents, Katie and Mitchael Stephens. My mom was remembered fondly for fixing homemade egg salad sandwiches and peanut butter cookies for her little sister. When she went away to college at West Georgia College, she met my dad, Steve Kiser. They added two daughters to the family, Stephanie and Sandy, six years apart. Later, they welcomed a son in law, David Adams, who was more like a son to them. Tracy loved her grandsons, Alex and Jason, never missing an opportunity to hug them. She loved to celebrate birthdays and was known for baking her family members a cake. Her cakes were beautiful creations that she created based on the birthday person's theme request. However, her greatest legacy was that she loved us all unconditionally!! In fact, her only flaw was that she was an avid fan of Georgia Tech athletics and that she passed that flaw to my sister. (Love and miss you both!)
We are planning to hide cruise duck sailors named after her loved ones on an upcoming family cruise in her memory since she loved cruising herself. In fact, she was a wonderful cruise agent for many friends and family. We would love to hear where the cruise ducks end up after they travel on the Celebrity Beyond. Our family would love to hear from anyone in the tributes below who visits this memorial, whether you are one of her crazy family members, beloved friends of years gone by, or new friends who happen to find their way here. In addition, if anyone would like to donate in her memory, here is a link to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation to help find a cure for this cruel disease. Much love to everyone who supported us through her illness and passing. We love you all!
