Tim Killeen

January 29th, 1958 - May 30th, 2023
Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you. I loved you so. 'Twas heaven here with you. Isla Paschal Richardson
Tim Killeen was born in San Francisco California on January 29, 1958. He spent his childhood in the Bay area having daily adventures with his siblings, Mike, Diane and Kati. The family took road trips and his Dad, Jim, took the kids on backpacking treks. In Middle School, Tim began running cross country which sparked a life-long passion for running.
It was through running that he met Tonya. They married and brought three wonderful sons into the world, Tyler, Noah and Grady. While raising children, Tim continued his education and completed the PhD program at Ohio University. Shortly after that, the family moved to Oregon. When his life changed direction, as life often does, he and Tonya divorced while continuing to raise the boys jointly in Ashland Oregon. Tim was an amazing hands-on Dad; coaching Little League, helping with school work and school outings and taking the kids on family adventures, including those famous backpacking trips!
Once again, life changed direction and Tim met Chris. It didn't take long for both of them to realize that they were deeply in love. With much thoughtful conversation and joyful planning, they decided to marry and blend their families. Tim instantly gained two beautiful daughters, Lindsay and Katie, whom he loved as his own from the beginning. This new family (which many called 'the Brady Bunch' :)) thrived and bonded almost seamlessly. Tim's calm demeanor and sense of humor helped immensely with that! Life in Ashland was good.
While teaching at Southern Oregon University, Tim began working part time with a start up company called Starseed. Starseed became WebRing and after various evolutions, buy-outs and other exciting adventures in the Tech World, Tim and Chris became the proud owners of WebRing. Tim grew the company through his skills and creativity and it thrived for quite a few good years.
Once again, a change in direction of life took Tim and Chris to Santa Monica, California where Tim began working with a (then) small company called Ziprecruiter. Tim's brilliance in programming and management played a crucial role in Zip's road to IPO. He was proud of the part he played in Zip's growth and he touched many lives throughout his time there.
Over the years, Tim's career brough him much success, enjoyment and satisfaction. He traveled for work and he and Chris also traveled for pleasure to Cyprus, Tel Aviv, Paris, Ukraine and many Hawaii trips. Tim's true passions, his loves, were always Family first, which came to include our three beautiful grandchildren, David, Austin and Ellie; and running. Tim continued running up until the past couple of years, when physical issues began taking their toll.
The final change in direction came when Tim discovered that he had Hereditary Hemochromatosis. His health rapidly declined in spite of his valiant efforts to get ahead of it and stem the progression, as it continued to attack his organs. This was a race that Tim could not win.
We have consolation in knowing that Tim's loving, caring and generous spirit will remain forever in our hearts. And we will forever be blessed to have had him in our lives.
