“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.” ~ 2 Timothy 4:7

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tim Granchi on February 22nd, 2025. Tim passed away peacefully with family by his side at Heart-to-Heart Hospice House after battling ALS.

Tim is now reunited with his parents Michael and Violet Granchi and his wife Marti Granchi. He will be missed dearly by his siblings Bev (Bob), Judy (Kurt) and Michael (Toni). Loving father to his three children, Michelle (Tim), Ed (Kristen) and Jason. Wonderful grandfather to Hannah (Stacey), Julia (Keyvin), Adam, Lily (Damian), Lauren, Nolan and Jackson. Forever missed by his furry friend Callie.

Tim was born in Canton, Ohio where he was raised along side his three siblings. Upon moving to Michigan in his adult years, Tim spent most of his career in finance and purchasing management for automotive companies. Though his job kept him busy, he always found time to watch his kids play sports and regularly travelled to the Gaylord family cottage on weekends.

In retirement, Tim made time for his hobbies. He was an avid gardener and always enjoyed harvesting apples and blueberries at Ed’s orchard. He worked along side Ed, Jason, Kristen, Nolan and Jack at the Paint Creek Cider Mill helping to take the load off in their busier seasons.  He also had a small local lawnmowing business and was relied on by many in the Rochester Glens community to keep their lawns in top shape. Tim loved his sports, specifically golf and football. Starting his life in Ohio, he remained a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, never wavering in the presence of Michigan fans.

Many who knew Tim knew about his love and passion for motorcycles and more specifically, Harley Davidson. Wherever two wheels could take him, he would go. His granddaughters have fond memories of him making the 8-hour trip across the border to visit them with his American and Canadian flags hanging off the back of his bike blowing in the wind as he pulled in the driveway. Tim's eldest grandson Adam will always remember their frequent breakfast and dinner trips to George’s Coney Island where he never strayed from his usual meal, gyro and Greek salad.

Tim achieved and will be remembered for a lot during his lifetime, but the love he had for his friends and family is what will be remembered and cherished most of all. Let us all raise a glass of Tim’s favorite George Dickel Tennessee Whiskey and raise a toast to a life well lived. We will miss you always.

The family wants to thank all the nurses and healthcare staff involved with Tim’s care as they brought so much comfort to Tim and his family. They also give their sincere gratitude to ALS of Michigan. In lieu of flowers and gift baskets, the family has asked for donations to ALS of Michigan and the American Red Cross.

One thing you can certainly say about Tim is that if you were his friend you definitely knew when he was there! His giggle and laughter were one of a kind, along with the red color of his face when he laughed beet red and ready to explode! I first really met him back in the Lectron Products days back when he was the Director of the newly created Program Management group. I was one of the first people he brought in from the Engineering department. It started me on the way to the career that I eventually retired from. In exchange for getting in the group, I kicked his ass to stop having models of Harley’s on his desk to actually BUY one! Somehow he convinced Marti to let him buy one and he was a proud as a kid to bring in actual pictures of his bike! I’ll always remember him a being a “no nonsense” kind of guy who always was a straight shooter, a rare quality in the automotive world. He was proud to have been at Lectron since shortly after it started, working at multiple jobs- whatever was needed - to get the company going. That was Tim - a guy who was eager to pitch in and do anything needed to get the job done In later years we parted ways at Lectron/Eaton but always kept in touch. I was happy to bring him in at a company I worked at for the end of his career. Tim was always telling stories about his kids, how hard they worked, what good people they are. His grandkids made him smile as well. His granddaughters ability to “out-hunt” other hunters brought him joy, as did telling stories of Adam, who made him crazy and laughing, all in the same sentence. Once in a while I’d swing past his house and stop to shoot the bull with him. I’ll miss that a lot. Tim Granchi was certainly an unforgettable person in MY life. I’m certain that sentiment is held by anyone who knew him. God speed my friend. See you on the road again some day.
