To my Boykin brothers thank you for sharing your mother with so many. Momma Boykin will always hold a special place in my heart, she treated my family and I with nothing but love. Either it was a kind word, encouragement, a good meal. I lost my mother Nov. 3, 1981 and from that day to present Momma Boykin promised that she'd fill that void. In which she did I call her mom and she called me son and I'm forever grateful. We often spoke on the phone, and I would visit her while I lived in Richmond. Momma would always give me a word of encourgement, and always asked me to say a prayer for her. On the week of her passing that Tuesday, Paula and I spoke her breifly and her last words to me were son can you pray with me. In which we did never did I think it would be the last time we'd speak, my heart is broken and as I sit hear writing tears are flowing. Be Strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discourage for the Lord your God. Is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9 May Momma Boykin legacy live for ever.... Love your son Andre Brimmage

Dearest Boykin Family, I will forever treasure the times and moments I shared with Mrs. Boykin aka Ma. She was instrumental in providing me with love and nurturing during my teenage years. I will always carry her handprint on my heart. Ma will live forever in my thoughts and prayers! Mrs. Andria Quintero

Niki/Brenda: Grief, it hurts so much because it's love with no place to go. Its all the love we want to give but cannot. That love gathers in our eyes as tears, the lump in our throats, and the searing pain in our chests. But there is beauty in that grief because it reminds us that who we loved was actually with us and our time with them was not a dream. Our sadness is evidence that our memories aren't imagined. Thomasina lived on this physical plane with us, hugged us, held us up through our failures, and celebrated our victories. And for that we should be grateful. All that she shared with us we can never lose; her love is part of us. Her spirit is part of us. She is not gone but has passed into another form of being. She has been fitted with her angel wings, and those angel wings give her the power to be with all of us at once. Her love is the thread that stitches our broken hearts back together, that fills in the void of our heartbreak. She is the sunrise, the stars in the heavens, the very air we breathe - she is there. When your heart yearns to see her, simply look up. The flowing rivers, the mighty oceans, the concrete jungles of the city - she is there. In your quiet moments when you need a word from her, listen to the breeze - her voice is within. The ancestors have welcomed her to their number, as they will all of us in our time. Each of us carries the wisdom of those ancestors in our bones and it is our responsibility to keep going in this physical form on their behalf. Thomasina instilled in all of us everything we need to continue on from here, to pick up where she left off. In our time, each of us will pass our own wisdom down and join the winds of the ancestors. For now, we must carry on and let our light shine, just as she taught us to. Let it shine.
