Thomas Gerard Connolly (Age 62)

On August 27, 2024, Thomas “Tommy” Connolly, of Rogersville, TN, passed away after a long battle with cancer. Born in Pittsburgh, on December 10, 1961, and raised in Aspen Hill Rockville, MD. Survived by his former wife Nancy (Helsel) Connolly. Beloved father to Samantha (Rod) Connolly-Osborne, and stepchildren Jacob (Vasanti) Helsel, and the late Michelle Connolly. Also survived by Grandchildren Nicholas, Logan, and Skylar Osborne; Ryan, Dena, and Erica Helsel. Siblings Michael (Shelly) Connolly, Maureen (Greg) Walcavich, Sheila (Richard) Kostiuk, Mary Eileen (David) Tonelson and Pat (Heidi) Connolly and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by Father Michael Connolly, Mother Mary Connolly, and brother John Connolly.

Tommy was a force, when he set his mind to something he was unshakable. He was always quick witted and great for a laugh. To say he had the “gift of gab” was an understatement, he could always hold a conversation and then some, being able to talk for hours. There was never a dull moment with him, he was the guy for grand adventures no matter where he was going. He loved all things Pittsburgh: Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, and once he moved to Tennessee, the Vols found their way into his heart, and it was rare to find him not rocking the orange. He lived with a rockstar mentality and free-spirited nature. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to attend funeral Mass at St. Jude Catholic Church, 12701 Veirs Mill Rd, Rockville, MD Friday, September 6 at 11a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at The Wheaton Moose Lodge, 2901 Bel Pre Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20906. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made for the AA May Day Meeting at St. Matthews Presbyterian Church 4001 Bel Pre Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20906.

May you rest in peace my old friend. I will never forget the adventures we had growing up. The many times that all it took was a head nod from you and off we would go to another crazy adventure. Love my brother from another mother.
