Of Tenacity, Tunas and a Teochew Singaporean Thomas Ang 走过新加坡建国时代:一个早期潮州人的故事 洪德财
A man I knew all my life yet fully did not. Although a man of few words, he was however to me the embodiment of Wisdom and Christ-likeness.
He never spoke a harsh word and was quick to listen without judgement. He was patiently forgiving, constantly assuming the best in people to a fault and always with a ready smile that reached his eyes.
He commanded respect wherever he went, yet oblivious to the influence he carried.
He was a man of integrity.
Today was an epitome of a celebration of a life well-lived, well-loved and a race well-finished.
A good name is better than precious ointment, and the day of death better than the day of one’s birth (Ecclesiastes 7:1).
Rest well , till we meet again on Heaven’s side

Happy Birthday in Heaven, Dad Today, we celebrate your life and the love you gave so generously. Your wisdom, strength, and values live on in everything we do. You taught us to work hard, to be honest, and to walk through life with dignity. Your memory continues to inspire us, and the legacy you left behind will forever guide our family. Not a day goes by without thinking of you, missing your smile, and remembering your quiet strength. We may not see you anymore, but we feel your presence in our hearts and in the lives you’ve touched. Happy Birthday in Heaven, Dad. You are deeply loved and cherished forever.

We are blessed and grateful to have you in our lives. Specifically for me, I wouldn't be the person I am today, I wouldn't be where I am now and I may not even have been here if it wasn't for you and Mum. You showed me what was right, what was wrong and the meaning of being good. You taught me to be polite, have manners and to respect my elders, giving me the foundation upon which I can build on. From the both of you, I have goodness and morality instilled and no matter how much I try, nothing can ever repay all that you have done for me, especially so at the most crucial turning point in my life when I was a teenager.

Sometimes, when I remember that he is not around anymore, I want so badly to talk to him, to hear his voice one more time, to feel his warm hand, to see his kind smile and to hear his laughter. When I walk downstairs, I remember that, this was the route I would walk to his house. When I go to work and it passes by his house, I look outside the window, I see him waiting for me there, to be picked up.It is never an easy task to capture the beauty of Father through words as no amount of words put together, will be able to capture Father’s true essence. It is almost futile to try.
