Mementos

With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Terrie Trabue Bauer, who left this world on August 14, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on October 9, 1948, Terrie was the beloved, youngest daughter of the late Robert Lee Trabue Sr. and Olive Herring Trabue.

Terrie was a loving stepmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth, resilience, and generous spirit touched the lives of many.

Terrie grew up in La Porte, Texas, and graduated from La Porte High School in 1966, playing the clarinet in band all 4 years. She went on to graduate from Sam Houston State University in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree.

Terrie worked for Houston Lighting & Power Company, later known as CenterPoint Energy, where she spent many years making friends before retiring.

Outside of her career, Terrie found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. She enjoyed Bible study, playing Bunko, traveling, mission trips, riding her Spyder 3-wheeled motorcycle, music, and most of all, spending time with the people she loved. She treasured the friendships she made throughout her life and the time shared with family and friends. Those relationships brought her happiness and created memories that will be cherished by those who knew her.

Terrie was the youngest of five siblings to Lou Tomme, the late Roberta "Bobbie" Payne, the late Kathleen "Angie" Buckmiller, and Robert "Bucky" Trabue Jr. She was an adoring aunt to Tammi Turner, Hershel Buckmiller, Gerald Buckmiller, Tanya Steves Villani, Amy Trabue, Travis Trabue, Troy Payne, and Tiffany Maldonado. Terrie became a young aunt at the age of 14 and a great-aunt at 42, enjoying every minute of it. She treated her great-nieces and great-nephews as grandchildren, adopting the nickname "Grantie". Terrie was generous with gifts and went out of her way to attend every possible celebration or performance. She also cared deeply for her stepsons, Eddie Bauer and Paul Bauer, who preceded her in death; along with her parents, two sisters, and her great-nephew, Kyle Steves.

A Celebration of Life honoring Terrie will be held at First Baptist Church Highlands, 210 N Magnolia St, Highlands, TX 77562 on September 7, 2026, at 10:00 am, providing family and friends an opportunity to gather and share memories.

Terrie's life was marked by dedication, friendship, faith, and love for the people around her, especially children. She will be remembered for the joy she found in life's simple pleasures, the friendships she treasured, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends.

Terrie will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

I was so shocked and saddened by the death of Terrie! She was such a lovely person in every way. Her injury never seemed to keep her down; she used her cane and went on senior trips with us at First Baptist Highlands to the very end. Terrie was a giving person, not a taker. I enjoyed visiting with her so much. I know that Heaven has gained one of the best! I will so miss you, but wouldn't call you back for anything. How perfect and beautiful it must be there! 1 Corinthians 5:8 "We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord."
