Some of you may know her as Courtney Suzanne Robbins, others knew her as Suzanne Young and if you knew her for a very long time, Sue. I just knew her as Mom, and what a mom she was! Suzanne was born on March 2nd, 1949 and started life out on a dairy farm in Wisconsin. When she was a young teenager her family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. She opened GiGi by Suzanne, her first women’s clothing store located in commercial center. Later she went on to open Suzanne’s Touché, LaMarca Shoes, and most recently Suzanne and her daughter Nicole opened a cute store called Off the Street in Pharump, Nevada. In my mother’s words she had a lot of fun in life, she was the type of person you could tell your deepest darkest secrets too and she would never judge you. She lived her life with gusto and fearlessness. She was no nonsense and never had a problem telling you her opinion. Suzanne loved to laugh and I know that everyone that met her would end up smiling and laughing so hard it hurt. She was a bright light in any room she entered. Even more than that, she was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Suzanne had been fighting lung cancer for about a year and passed away on August 1st, 2020 from Pneumonia. She will be dearly missed by her dad Gerald Ford, brother Gene Young, daughters Nicole McLaughlin and Gina Zitella, her son-in-law Dominick Zitella, her grandchildren Nicholas Costanza, Bianca Zitella, Mia Zitella, Logan McLaughlin and Jeffery Meeh, boyfriend Steve Settlemeyer and her beloved family and friends. One of the last conversations I had with her she told me to start having more fun because getting old sucked! Which are now my new words to live by. Due to COVID-19, we have suspended a Celebration of Life Ceremony. I look forward to all the wild stories that will be told that day! For now, she has been cremated and will eventually be buried next to her mother, Ruth Ford. Mom, you were my Sunflower Because you always followed the sun and you will forever be missed by all that knew you. Rest In Peace.
