Susan Robertson
August 27th, 1954 - June 8th, 2021
August 27th, 1954 - June 8th, 2021
On June 8th 2021, Susan passed on from this earth to her heavenly home with both of her daughters by her side after a nearly two year battle with lung cancer. Susan is survived by her older sister Mary Jane Hamilton, two daughters, Katie Robertson, Sarah Gilmore and her Granddaughter Junia Gilmore.
Susan Robertson resided in Austin, TX for over 30 years where she raised her two daughters. Susan pursued and maintaned 20 years of sobriety, free from drugs and Alcohol. In August 2020, Susan retired from the Texas Department of Transportation after nearly 20 years of employment as an Accountant. Susan was also passionate about serving in the Gateway Church Community Garden which provides produce for over 100 families weekly. Susan recently shared that she found purpose giving back to the many food pantries she went to, in order to provide for her girls during her addiction.
While Susan has always had faith in a higher power, Jesus became more real in her life recently as she started regularly attending church and found community that allowed her to ask hard questions and grow in her understanding of God.
Susan was baptised June 10th, 2018.
Although we deeply miss our sister, mother, aunt and gigi, we are at peace knowing Susan is free from her bonds of pain, with her mother, father, others that have proceeded her and most importantly, Jesus.
There is so much about Susan's life we simply can not fit in a bio. We hope that you can please share your memories, experiences or perhaps even a fun fact about our dear Susan- Not only for those of us who knew her but also for her new granddaughter she loved so much.

We have known Susan for well over 15 years, at least as long as Jeff and Katie have been together. She has been a guest at our home for almost every holiday season as a part of our family get togethers. We enjoyed her smile, presence and conversation and we looked forward to having her with us every time. We came to love her as a part of our family and we will miss here each time we get together. We love you Susan. Now you are free from pain and in the celebration of our Lord.

I worked with Susan from 2001 to 2017. She was great it took time for me to get to know her. I would come to her desk on Monday morning s to tell her of my shopping conquests how I bought stuff on sale. I spent 30 but saved 200 she would then tell me how much of a bargain she got. Sometimes times I won Sometimes she won but we enjoyed the friendly competition. My other memory was how much moral support she offered when my granddaughter died and almost losing two others. When she arrived with the others she hugged me and didn't say much which but I felt her love and strength. That hug made me feel strong. I wished I contacted and talked to her more. She will be missed.

I met Susan in 2016 at Gateway church. We were in a life group together. She shared her story of addiction and how she overcame it. We became fast friends. She had such passion and love for our lord. She loved her daughters more than anything. We talked about our children all the time. She was so proud of them and they brought her so much joy. Becoming a grandmother was the highlight of her life. I will always remember her smile and beautiful laughter. You earned your wings. Until we meet again. May God comfort your family and friends.

Susan and I were classmates and friends in high school. She had a beautiful voice and I can remember singing all the popular songs of our era when we hung out together. I remember her kind heart, beautiful soul, stunning eyes and a gorgeous smile.

Susan is the mother of two wonderful women. Sarah has been one of my longest and dearest friends of over 19 years. You could always count on Sarah and Susan to show up for you anytime you needed someone or had a reason to celebrate. Susan endured many hardships during this life but was also always down for an adventure including many spring breaks of camping on the beach alongside us. She was just as much a friend as a mom. Nothing was off limits in their home for conversation, nobody too big a sinner to find a loving seat at their table. Susan created an environment of inclusion, which lives on in her daughters. Her story of redemption, triumph, and faith has been inspiring to all of those who have witnessed it, as many shared in person at her memorial today. Thankful she has made it to her eternal home in Heaven where there is no cancer, just the arms of her Savior.
