You were always the first person I met at the studio in the morning and whatever the weather, you always managed to really brighten up my morning- whether it be chatting about your Lego or hearing stories and giggles of you and Rob's experiences on thrill rides in adventure parks, to giving me brilliant advice on where to find obscure bilingual candidates - thank you so much. You were always a source of knowledge, inspiration and most of all fun!. I miss you being around and sorry I missed you just before you left but I will always remember your upbeat, strong and supportive character and although not here, I will always have really good memories of you being around. I won’t forget you and thank you for being you. x

"SuSanta", this is how some of us called Susan at Christmas time (like in the picture above!). I remember vividly her joyful laugh and her sense of humour (and a nerf gun close to her desk! :D ). She was always available for anyone asking for help or seeking a word of advice. I remember a few occasions when I was struggling for something, and her help arrived promptly: "Alessia, don't worry. We can do this and this". And that was it. Sorted in minutes. She always went above and beyond to organise enjoyable parties at the office for all of us. She carried on tirelessly, always. On a more personal note, I owe a lot to her. When I decided to go back to study, Susan and my managers at the time supported me in any way that matters. She was deeply supportive from the very first time that I spoke about that possibility. I was very lucky. I did learn a lot from her attitude and example. And I cannot thank her enough for that. Now that I am part of a research pathway that I always dreamt about, I realise that this all started with the invaluable support I was offered when we were working together. Big thanks Susan for everything. For your guidance, kindness, and integrity. Hugs to your family and your beloved ones xxx

I was fresh out of university and cluelessly applying left and right for jobs and Susan was the one who took the time to answer all my silly questions and teach me a great deal about the logistics of adulting. She was the kind smiling face that greeted me at my interview and helped me to get setup in a new city far from home. I do and will always remember her fondly as the person to beat for kindness and giggles.

Where to begin, Susan and I joined PTW (e4e at that point) within 3 weeks of each other in Jan/Feb 2011, she as a recruiter and me to look after the small Customer Support teams, about 20 people back then! We immediately got on and had a similar sense of humour, we shared many laughs as well as the numerous challenges we faced as PTW expanded to it's current 500+ people, Susan was a huge part of the success of our Glasgow Studios and Globally and I loved working with her, she was my sounding board and always had a methodical thought process to help us make decisions. In the early days, Susan would joke that whenever I went on holiday bad sh*t always happened in PTW, she would have a rush on recruitment for some challenging languages, or some delicate HR issue would occur! I returned from a holiday in April 2017 and Susan had scheduled a catch up with me for the first morning, what bad sh*t has happened now I thought? Unfortunately, this time it was real bad sh*t and Susan told me she had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer, I was devastated but Susan's positive outlook straight away was that it would not define her, and it never did. Susan went head on into her treatment, never missing a days work due to her illness, she was truly an inspiration. Even when her prognosis changed, as she said "to the bad cancer" she still carried on,not wanting to upset other people when she had to share her latest news with them. In April this year Susan started working more from home, I visited her regularly and she spoke about her making her funeral plans, she told me, "it's in the Burnside Hotel so you can walk home":) as fate would have it, I was on holiday and could not attend the funeral, the bad sh*t had already happened by then as Susan passed on 22nd July. In typical Susan style, she was thinking of others, on one visit she gave me 6 notebooks and pens for me and her team, Susan once told me "people like shoes and bags, I like stationery" you would never find her with a Bic pen! she liked a fountain pen and a nice notepad and wanted to share that with us:) The famous PTW Christmas Party was the brain child of Susan and she never wavered from the challenge of organising it as our numbers grew and one year the Asda drinks order didn't arrive as my corporate card had expired!! She duly got in her car and headed to Asda to purchase the drinks,no mean feat in mid December when you are buying for a couple of hundred people! Life at PTW won't be the same without Susan, I will miss her more than I can say, but she was so proud to be part of the success of PTW, and she was a huge part who will be greatly missed, I still expect her to be at her desk when I walk in each day:( sleep easy Susan xx

I was at uni and desperately needing a job to support myself. At the day of my interview I was pretty nervous, but Susan made me feel so welcome right from the start. She was funny, strong-minded, pragmatic, but most importantly she was truly kind. When I started working at PTW you could watch the office grow until one building wasn't enough. So many faces, so many different teams, but Susan knew everyone by name and made sure you felt like a part of the growing PTW family. Susan had time for everyone, and you could talk to her about everything. Her loss is felt around the globe, as is only fitting for such a wonderful person.

In my time with the company, I've come across some brilliant minds but none were such a force of nature as Susan was. She transformed our mindsets to help us cope with the transition of moving from a small team to a 500+ studio, snapped us into line when we needed it, and loved us like her own family. I personally witnessed her unique skill of taking a ball of confusion and transforming it in an instant into something simple and actionable - which we dubbed her "logic katana"... and she wielded that better than William Wallace handled a longsword - keeping the peace, solving personal problems, putting out multi-studio fires. I also had the privilege of watching her interact with others. Hunners came to her desk with work problems or personal problems, timid and upset, and left shortly after, smiling and sorted. With the weight of others' problems, she still never complained about her own and always made time for others. I witnessed her hire and build the team we have today, and based on their character and our tight support of each other, I guarantee that her ability to be a great judge of character was unparalleled. For my own development, I am forever grateful to Susan for breaking me out of my shell and helping me become who I am today. I started as a quiet kid without much self-confidence, but she urged me to push the envelope and do the uncomfortable things to grow... and I ended up being a trainer and a trainer of trainers. To anyone who knew me before, this was a near impossible outcome, but that's a testament to the patience and strong guidance she provided. She will be forever missed, but we will do our best to keep her memory alive by putting to use all that she taught us. Hugs to everyone touched by her amazing spirit.
