Susan's Child
Susan "Suze" Marion Burns
June 5th, 1960 - August 19th, 2025
June 5th, 1960 - August 19th, 2025
Susan Marion (Tiedman) Burns, 65, of Inver Grove Heights, passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2025.
Born on June 5, 1960, Susan grew up in South St. Paul, the beloved daughter of Philip and Carole Tiedman. She graduated from South St. Paul High School in 1978 and continued her education at Inver Hills Community College.
Susan’s life was filled with curiosity, humor, and love. She had a sharp wit and a gift for sarcasm, often peppering her conversations with clever references to movies, TV shows, and songs. She had a lifelong passion for Tudor history, science, weather, and plants, and she delighted in sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with those around her. Music was another joy in her life, especially rock and pop of the ’70s and ’80s.
Above all, Susan was a devoted mother. She raised three sons, of whom she was endlessly proud: Thomas Burns (38), Andrew Burns (36), and Anthony Burns (33). She is also survived by her siblings Michael (Lael), Thomas (Jennifer), Diane (Mike), Jeffrey, Steve (Christine), and Karen (Mike). Susan was preceded in death by her parents.
Susan’s kindness, humor, and thoughtful perspective left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Her sons will hold a private memorial for her in accordance with her wishes. They hope to dedicate a tree in a park in Dakota County - this will be updated with more details if/when this is finalized.

I think of Suze every time I see her desk. Suze was so helpful and friendly. She will be missed.

Susie, you were a joy to work with. I looked forward to your warm smiles and interesting conversations every day at work. The world was a little less dark every time I got to see you. I think about you every time I pass by your desk. You were the first person to welcome me when I started this job, and I always knew that I would have a friendly face to talk to. You are missed, we love you.

"...shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain."

I was so proud to hire Suze at ARRT on December 26, 20219. Suze had a warm, welcoming personality and voice on the phone. She had a very welcoming presence for ARRT as our receptionist. I enjoyed working with Suze over the years. We talked about her love of plants and flowers. She kept us all updated on the weather and storms coming. Of course, being born in the same year as Suzie, we loved the same music, and that was '70s/'80s rock. Of course, sports were always a favorite topic; my love of all things Vikings, and she loved the Minnesota Gophers. I remember when Suzie was sick during COVID - her dedication to her son. I called her many, many days to check up on her and make sure she was okay. She was very sick during that time. Please be aware that Suzie was a beloved team member here at ARRT, and we deeply miss her presence. Best regards and fondly remembering Suzie, Cathy Grengs

Tom, Andy, and Tony- the three of you were definitely the apples of your mom's eye. Sounds sort of old-fashioned, huh? I'm truly sorry for the loss of your mom, but she will always be with you in your hearts and memories. Every action and decision in your lives- yesterday, today, and tomorrow- her love and insight and experience were, and always will be, there with you, for you. Be there for each other through this time, and always as your lives continue onward. Love Uncle Steve.
