Susan Rose Burke

Susan Rose Burke was born 1946 and was raised in Elyria, Ohio. Susan was a beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, and a friend to so many. She was a proud alumni of Marygrove College. In addition to her raising three daughters, Sue taught 8th grade history, was a Montesorri teacher assistant while her kids attended preschool, and for nearly 25 years worked at Taunton Press, as a payroll cooridantor, making many good friends. She loved mystery novels, history, gardening, women's college basketball (Huskies and Wildcats), sitting lakeside with friends sipping coffee, or near a campfire with a good drink. She could name nearly any plant, including Sonoran Desert flora that she avidly learned after retiring and moving down to Tucson, AZ. She treasured being so close and spending time with her grand kids and watching them grow. She passed away on August 17, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband, Robert, her three daughters and partners, Meghan and Arvid, and step-grandson Ashton; Molly and Cheslea, and grandkids Niko and Jupiter; Mary and Anne; and her younger brother, Mark Katrick and his three children, Nick, Robin, and Alex. The family requests that in lieu of flowers or other gifts, you honor her life and memory by donating to one of two causes she supported. A direct link to the Southern Arizona Community Food Bank is supplied on this page. Or you may donate in her name to the Humans Rights Campaign (HRC.org). Susan believed that no person deserved to be hungry or denied basic human rights.
