STEVEN WILBERT TOLBERT – Loving husband of Cindy, cherished father of Desiree (Rick) & Luke, devoted grandfather of Kyley, Royce, Jaxon, Micah & Josie, treasured brother of Barry(Barb), Linda(Duane), Warren(Linda) & Sherry, and trusted friend to many; left his pain behind and passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Thursday January 12, 2023; joining his mother, YVonne Pierce Stone, and his stepfather, Floyd Kenneth Stone in eternal rest. Steve was born on April 19, 1953 in Pelican Rapids, MN. He was a graduate of Anoka High School, a carpenter by trade, and a 50-year member of the Carpenter’s Union. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and classic cars; but the single most important thing to Steve was his family and friends. Especially his grandchildren. Steve spent his life doing as much as possible to help other people. He could be stubborn. He’d tell you himself that he wasn’t always patient. And occasionally some of the stories he told got exaggerated for maximum entertainment value. His personality could light up any room. And whether you needed a hand, or a hug, or just someone to be there for you, there was no one better. He went too soon and will be greatly missed, but he left with nothing unsaid. Those who knew him knew that he loved them because he never missed an opportunity to tell us. May we all strive to honor Steve’s example by expressing our love to one another whenever possible through both words and deeds. Steve was a survivor of childhood polio and a lifelong supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. In Lieu of flowers, we encourage Steve’s friends and family to consider making a donation to St. Jude’s in his honor.

Steve always made me laugh, especially as a kid. He was such a happy jokester.

The world lost a great person. Steve was one of my favorite people. He was always there to help or listen. He gave really good hugs… especially when you needed one. So sad. Love you, Old Guy❤️

Steve was a loved and important part of my life. Have known him for about 65 years. We did so much together chatted couple times, if not more, a week. He was more a member of the family than a friend. He touched so many lives during his life. He will be missed!! God created a good man in Steve.

Steve has always been more family than friend. He was an amazing man who helped to shape me into who I am today. He was there with a joke when I needed a laugh, and there with a shoulder when I needed support. He will be greatly missed, but he absolutely will never be forgotten.

Steven was an older cousin and a 3rd cousin at that, but to me he was important and treated me like his first cousin. When I was young my folks would drive us to Anoka for a weekend visit, I was always excited as the Tolberts were always so kind. I'd venture off to the garage where I'd find Steven working on his Harley Davison and instead of showing me away he ask me to grab a wrench or some tool and then he'd take me for a ride. He always greater us with a warm embrace and a gentle smile and a joke or two to get us laughing. I will always cherish HOW SPECIAL he made our visits there as well as his hometown at the family lake. We will miss you Steven.
