July 10th, 1947 - August 28th, 2021
Steven Warren Barnett of Pahrump, Nevada quietly passed from this life on Saturday, August 28, 2021. Son of the late Carmel Barnett and Margaret Barnett nee Coffman, he was born July 10, 1947 in Duarte, California. He attended public school and graduated from Duarte High in 1965. Steve enlisted in the United States Navy and served overseas in Vietnam. After discharge, he attended Westmont College in Montecito, California and graduated from Long Beach State University. Steve found his passion in the outdoors and worked in the California Park System as a Park Ranger and Peace Officer in Point Lobos Park, Carmel, California and in Orange County. Relocating to Arizona in 1982, he bought property to build a house and try his hand at being his own boss. An entrepreneur for the rest of his life, he continued to self-educate and expand his knowledge and experience. Steve was a Renaissance man and friend to all. He was always ready to raise a glass and he never met a stranger. He left an impact on every person he met and will never be forgotten by those he left behind. The world is a bit quieter and a little less shiny without him in it. His life will be cherished by those he left behind, wife, Wendy Barnett, daughters, Melissa Nasits nee Barnett and Megan Wentz, sister, Patricia Rankin, grand-daughters, Izabelle Nasits and Alexandria Nasits, bestfriend and cousin, Larry Carey.
Services will be held on September 25th, 2021 at to be determined location in Duarte, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates contributions made to the following organizations in Steve’s memory - California State Park System, St. Jude Children's Hospital, Discovery Park in Pahrump, NV.
