Our treasured husband, father, and brother, Steve Sae Hwan Chung, went to join his Lord and Savior on October 7, 2021 at 7:40am. Steve was born in Seoul, Korea on August 15, 1962, and grew up in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton (Bachelor's) in 1985. After graduating from university, Steve began an illustrious career on Wall Street in investment banking. From New York, he then moved to South Korea, where he met his wife, Hyejung. They married on December 6th, 1989, and had their first son Nicholas Chung on September 14th, 1990. After three years, he moved back to New York City with his family, lived there for one year, then moved to Fort Lee, New Jersey in 1994. They had their second son Alexander Chung in New Jersey on May 19, 1996. Throughout the rest of his life, he and his family would live in Hong Kong, Seoul, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. Steve was a family man, and his favorite activity was spending time with family and loved ones. He also genuinely loved his work and started his own investment fund, Tigra Capital, where he traded around the clock in both American and Asian markets. Those who knew him know that he truly lived life to the fullest extent. He took joy in the finer things in life, from travel to good food and his life was always one adventure after another. He visited many of the great cities across six continents, as well as some of the most remote regions of the world. He was an avid hiker, and hiked the Annapurna circuit, Kilimanjaro, Maclehose in Hong Kong, among many others. Steve was a man of integrity and held his dearest beliefs with the strongest conviction. He was a true patriot and man of God. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jung Ja Lee, and is patiently waiting for his wife and two sons in Heaven. May he be blessed and may we keep his memory ever alive with us.

Dear HyeJung, Nicholas & Alex, I'm so sorry to her of the loss of Steve, a loving husband and father. I'm shocked and saddened to hear of his passing especially as it was only less than two months ago I was chatting with him after his discharge. My deepest condolences. I first knew Steve whilst in Kleinwort Benson where I would meet him on marketing trips to New York from Singapore. I recall the many trips we made in America including one to his home then in New Jersey. I always enjoyed being around Steve as he was so interesting to talk to and honest with his opinions and views. I got to get to know Steve better during his stint in Hong Kong. We eventually became good friends, and we would take our children regularly on walks from Park View to Stanley. Steve was very fit, running all the way and if time permits the gym thereafter. Steve loved his food and drinks, and it is a common passion of ours. I will always remember our makan sessions in New York, Hong Kong and Singapore, and I even made a promise of where I would take him to in Singapore once normality returns. I promise I will take your family there when they come through Singapore. But the thing that strikes me most about Steve is that he is a strong Catholic and that he loved his family very much. He loved Hyejung and was always thinking of her. He loved and was proud of his sons Nicholas and Alex, and kept me updated regularly of what they were doing and where they were based. Steve was a good friend, but most of all a loving and faithful husband and devoted father. He will be sadly missed, but forever remembered.

I always called him "Uncle Steve" --- he is a senior figure to me, someone that I look up to and respect. We knew each other from Citigroup during 2004-06, but it was around the times of 2009 to 2012 that I got to know him the most It was the time when I oversaw his son, Alex, when he played in a few few chess tournaments in Hong Kong, and I got to hang out with Uncle Steve in poker trips to Macau - where I was learning from a pro like him! It was also a difficult period for me personally, but he was very kind and treated me like a family member - I could never forget that. Looking back, I wish I should have kept in touch with him more than I did... I was so preoccupied with establishing my own family and also with my chess.... it was simply too late for regrets... But Uncle Steve will always be in my heart and in my mind... in fact, I would say he will be in the hearts and minds of many. All his charisma, his willingness to help people, his radiance of energy... I will never forget him

Dear HyeJung, Nicholas & Alex: My sincere condolences on the loss of your husband and father. May in Rest In Peace for surely he is now in a better place. I met Steve when I first moved to New York City in 1994. We worked together for many years. Steve became a good friend at that time and I have very fond memories of each one of you. He was proud of his family and loved all of you so very much. He had a zest for life which was infectious. I remember well all the up and downs in our careers we shared. We had many ups and downs but through it all he was steadfast as a friend. But more than anything else, I cherish in his memory is his great zest for life and the passion he had for everything he set his heart and soul to. I was sad when you all moved to HK as I missed him. I hope that our paths will cross again. God Bless all of you. GOH, Eck Meng
