In Loving Memory of Valentine ‘Shiko’ Wanjiku February 14, 1989 – April 28, 2026
It is with profound sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Valentine ‘Shiko’ Wanjiku on April 28, 2026. A resident of Oakland, California, Shiko’s radiant light and vibrant spirit touched the hearts of many lives across borders.
She was the beloved daughter of Faith Wanjiru Chege; a cherished sister to Ian Mwangi, Njane Chege and Lydia Mwangi; and a loving aunt to Neema Mwangi. She was the treasured granddaughter of Emma Wanjiku and a dear niece to Roselyn Njeri of California and Naomi Gakunga of Texas. She will be deeply missed by her cousins—Gakunga Gakunga, Ndungu Gakunga, Samuel Mbugua—and a wide circle of extended family and friends.
Service Details: A memorial service and celebration of Shiko’s life will be held in Nakuru, Kenya. The specific date and time will be announced in the coming week.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Shiko's passing. Her life was cut far too short, but the light she brought into the world was undeniable. I will always remember her huge smile and that incredible energy she carried with her. She had a beautiful gift of making you feel welcome and truly seen. She will be profoundly missed. Sending my deepest sympathies and so much love to her family and all who loved her.

Since mum broke the news that we were suddenly 2 and not three.. distraught is where I was left! I never imagined we were to part ways this soon but it’s Gods will. Actually it never ever crossed my mind. I love you my dear only sister and shall dearly and dearly miss you. Dance on with the angels till we meet on the dance floor. Rest in peace our lovely second born as you morphed me into the Second parent, a role I gladly played with endless memories. Cucu (your namesake) Mum, Njeri, Njane, Myself and many others will miss you eternally. Rest in love dear sister. Charlie Puth - See you again
