March 19th, 1949 - January 23rd, 2021
To see a World in a Grain of Sand- And a Heaven in a Wild Flower- Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand- And Eternity in an hour- [William Blake]
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Sherrie Elaine Rostkowski who went home to God on January 23rd. She passed quietly and was attended by her family.
Sherrie was born March 19, 1949 in Flint, Michigan the first of 8 siblings. She is predeceased by her parents James "Jim" Elowsky and Mildred Netzer, her brother Greg Elowsky (Laura), brother Daniel Elowsky, and brother-in-law Paul Niswonger. Sherrie is survived by her husband and soul mate of 44 years, Richard, her Stepmother Fran Elowsky and is remembered by her Daughter Michelle Neblett (John), Stepson Michael Rostkowski (Mary), Grandchildren; Lauren McElrone, Stephen Rostkowski, Ryan Rostkowski, Siblings; Suzanne Kwiatkowski (Joseph), Gary Elowsky (Kathy), Dionne Niswonger, Eric Elowsky (Debra), Rita Baird, nieces, nephews, and many more friends and relatives.
Sherrie was a dedicated nurse with intense affection for children, the elderly and people with special needs. She demonstrated bravery and an immeasurable amount of strength when she defeated lung cancer in 2018. She had a creative flair that astonished those who witnessed it, from the elaborate decor in her home to the elegantly assembled gift boxes she would give. Sherrie was a confidant to all those that knew her, and were impressed by her bold, genuine character and tremendous heartfelt compassion. Sherrie had an extraordinary amount of wisdom and a sense of audacious humor that she shared with everyone. We love her beyond these words that are simply inadequate to properly express. Our life has had endless love and happiness with her by our side.
Sherrie wished to be cremated and her ashes spread at Nottoway Plantation in New Orleans, one of her most favorite places on Earth to be. No services will be scheduled, following those wishes.
Expressions of condolence for the family may be made here, on her memorial website. Please see the "tribute" button to the right to leave messages or add a photo.
Donations to St Judes Children's in lieu of flowers would have made her happy. Please see the link below.
Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, is also assisting the family.
Great love creates great grief.

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking of my 60+ years with you as my big sister, and still find it impossible to put into words how important you were to me, how much I loved and admired you, how in awe of your wisdom, intelligence, gentleness, talent and flair. You were unique, wise and caring. You are forever in my heart, and I’ll always hear and cherish the sound of your voice. I can only imagine the joyous celebration of loved ones as they welcomed you to heaven. I will miss you until we are all together again.

Sherrie was my first cousin and best friend when we were young children. She has always been in my heart and on the backroads of my mind. She taught me the art of gourmet meals as you see in our first picture together.
