Mementos

It is with mixed emotion that we announce the peaceful passing of Sheila Cohen Racovsky, on September 27, 2020 in her seventy-sixth year after a brave battle with ALS. The daughter of the late Virginia and Louis Cohen. Protector of her younger brother David Cohen. Loving wife to Mike for fifty-five years and a loving mom who chose to stay home to bring up her two daughters. She helped with the bookwork in the family business for many years before she and Mike retired to the Madoc area. Sheila continued her interest in, and affection for her many cousins, sister and brother in law, nieces and nephews, throughout her life. The family would like to extend their thanks to the family members who came out to see Sheila in her final weeks despite the Covid pandemic. And all the help and support they provided to us as well. Heart felt thanks to a very special PSW Pat Wagar who provided so much assistance and encouragement to all of us. Pat has a special place in our hearts and will never be forgotten for her kindness and compassion. Sheila showed considerable inner strength before and after her diagnosis, while dealing with Covid restrictions and a broken medical system. She faced the future in her own amazing way of finding a way to see the love around her and to recognize humor right to the end, even while arranging her own death. It is humbling. Her laughter. Her unique sense of humor. Her beautiful blue eyes. Her love of the sun! Her love of cooking and food, she was an amazing chef. Her quirky way of spelling. Her love of family. All these memories and so much more will comfort us while trying to move forward. Please share your memories of this sweet lady with us. Sheila’s wish was that there be no funeral, no service, or shiva and that she be cremated. We request memorial donations be made to The Heart of Hastings Hospice in Madoc. We are saddened by her passing and Sheila will be deeply missed however it is reassuring to know she is now at rest.

On behalf of the remaining Teich family from Grafton (children and grandchildren of LeRoy & Mary), my condolences to the Racovsky and Cohen families. Though we were not so close in these recent times, I am full of joy over recent re-connections and seek to encourage and nurture more family relationships and closeness. May the passing of all before us help to bring those remaining even closer with love.
