Scot Hamilton Anderson

April 8, 1955 – July 27, 2025

Scot Anderson passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, in Scottsdale, Arizona at the age of 70, following a rapid and tragic decline from dementia.

Born in Pocatello, Idaho, Scot’s life was one of movement, adventure, and connection. He lived in many places over the years, including Boise, Idaho; Medford, Oregon; Santiago, Chile; and Phoenix, Arizona—each becoming a chapter in the story of a man who embraced life fully.

Scot had a long and successful career in leadership roles in procurement and supply chain, most notably with Harry & David in Oregon, and later with Bechtel Construction overseas. Known for his work ethic, strategic mind, and ability to connect with people, he was both respected and beloved by his colleagues.

Outside of work, Scot was a true sports enthusiast. He was a star athelete in highschool playing both football and baseball, and in college he played baseball at University of Idaho. He could talk stats, players, and plays from almost any sport. A diehard Yankees fan, he rarely missed a game on TV in his later years. When he lived in Chile, he would even watch the women's soccer games. He loved to golf, listen to Jimmy Buffett, enjoy a perfectly grilled steak, and a generous pour of red wine. He was philosophical at times; one of his favorite books was The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah.

But above all, Scot was a motivating and loving father. He is survived by his children, Austin and Nicole, and his cherished grandchildren, Cameron and Carter Anderson.

Plans for a memorial will be announced in Fall 2025. Updates will be shared with family and friends as they become available.

Scot “Big Andy” Anderson will be missed more than words can say.

I met Scot in Bechtel in Chile, it´s sad to hear he passed away. I remember him as a friendly person who would always have a minute to smile and greet all members of the project we worked in. Although he passed away last year I would like to send my condolences to his family.

The best memory of Scot...I was traveling through Ohio with Scot and another colleague (Roger), looking at candy operations. We were going through Columbus and Scot and Roger both wanted to see "The Shoe" at Ohio State (I'm the Buckeye in the group). At that time, (~2000), the stadium was being renovated and was surrounded by chain link fence. Scot and Roger were on a mission. We had to get into the stadium and we found a chain holding two gates together which we were able to squeeze under. Before I knew it, Scot was out around the 15 yard line running towards the goal line and catching an air ball, just like the true champ that he was. Oh if we had only had a camera! May all of your memories with Scot always hold a smile. Sending prayers and blessings to Nikki and Austen and families and friends. Cheryl

I was a friend, a classmate, and a teammate with Scot during our high school years at Capital. We played football and baseball together. Scot was a starting defensive back on our highly regarded Gurkha defense. We finished the season 8-2. During his senior year, the Gurkhas shut out four opponents and held two other opponents to one score each. Scot was also the catcher on our very successful baseball team. We were 24 - 5 our senior year and finished 2nd in the State Tournament. I pitched and played first base. Scot would come to the mound with a sly grin on his face and with a calm firmness be able to settle a sometimes wild and emotional pitcher down. He was a real leader on that team. I did not have many opportunities to see Scot over the years after graduation, but when we did have the opportunity to meet - it was always enjoyable to visit with him. I'd like to offer my condolences to Austin and Nicole. Your father was a positive influence and a friend whose memory I will always cherish.
