Sammy Ortiz 1934 – 2021 Left us Monday, August 9th, he joins his parents Juan and Pauline Ortiz, Eddie and Cecilia his brother and sister and Michael Ortiz his grandson. He is survived by Mary Ortiz, Sam (Bea), Ray (Kathleen), Bob (Karen), Ralph (Judy), Pauline, Leonard (Lori), Arthur and Anna. 14 Grandchildren, Melissa, Andrea, Hilary, Raymond, Alana, Sarah, Sophia, Matt, Ryan, Katie, Bianca, Emelia and Juan and three great grandchildren. He also leaves an extended family of nieces, nephews and good friends. He loved his family unconditionally, he also loved his Cowboys, horseracing and the Elks Club. Services will be Monday, August 23 at 10:30 at Rivera Kiva Chapel of Light, located at 417 East Rodeo Road, Santa Fe. Reception to follow at the Elks Club, 1615 Old Pecos Trail.

Saddened to hear about the passing of Sammy, a gentleman above all. My condolences to mother Mary, my friends Sam, Ray, Bobby, Ralph, Leonard an the rest of the Ortiz family. Be Strong an prayers will be said.

I cannot find adequate words to express my profound sorrow over the passing of my dear friend and coworker of some 30 years known to us as "Money Making Sam". My wife Carmen and I were attending funeral services for another friend and coworker Manuel A. Martinez Jr. I met Sam in the early 1960's working for the NMDOT building a HW from Tierra Amarilla East to Taos. I will mourn the loss of this two men till the end of my days. Mary and Sammy Jr. and Ray may remem ber me as a family friend which I hope I was although life takes us in seperate paths. Vaya con Dios mi buen Amigo and RIP & you will be missed and I keep you in memory and prayers until the end of my days.
