Greg, Ashley and I would like to thank everyone that joined us for Ryan's Celebration of Life. We apologize for it running longer than planned, but we discovered it is hard to fit a person's life in an hour and a half. We cherish the memories that were shared and hope that family and friends will continue to share on this page in the area of memories and condolences, at the very least sign your name so we know you visited the page or watched the recording. GatheringUs will be posting the recorded Celebration of Life on Monday for those that couldn't get signed in or were not able to attend. I myself ended up recording and adding my part to it, as the evening of the event I was too emotional to be able to speak the words I wanted to say. We thank everyone for the prayers, thoughts and the love you have shown us during this time. We look forward to seeing you all in person in the near future. Celebration of Life held December 17. 2020 Hello family and friends. We are honored that you are planning on attending Ryan's virtual Celebration of Life on Thursday, December 17 th at 6:30 - 8:00 pm. GatheringUs also keeps this Memorial page running indefinitely, allowing family and friends to continue to share stories, memories and pictures after the event. We will truly value hearing from each of you as we are unable to meet in person due to COVID. We will continue to use this platform to announce the Memorial hockey game between Canada and the USA, which we are planning at a later date. One last note - although our hearts are still hurting and grief can be intense at times, we are comforted by the promises of God knowing Ryan is with Jesus. We hope you will also find some comfort in this. Obituary from February 2020 With an incredible amount of sadness, Greg, Brenda and Ashley Sidun announce the passing of our beloved Ryan. Ryan was loved by so many, but he will be especially missed by his nephew, Mikhail Sidun and his niece, Georgia Sidun. He will also be missed by his grandparents, George Sr. and Anna Sidun and Ronald and Jeanne Brown, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. We are happy that Ryan was received in heaven by his grandparents, Jim and Carol Javon. Ryan graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation. While attending Liberty, he also played five years on the Liberty Flames hockey team, a team that went to Nationals every year while he was playing. Ryan had an incredible 20-year hockey career and often found himself playing a big part in many important games. Ryan is also noted in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Canada, as being a player for the first Northern Ontario team (and definite underdog) to win the Midget National TELUS Cup. Besides hockey, Ryan was passionate about aviation. Ryan earned his wings privately before going on to study at the University level. Ryan also loved to fish and spend time with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by countless numbers of people who he touched with just his smile and quiet, but comforting presence. Ryan was an incredibly generous soul and volunteered many hours serving dinners at the Elgin Street Mission in Sudbury, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, or if you would like to donate directly, he would have liked donations payable to The Elgin Street Mission, 344 Elgin St., Sudbury, ON P3E 3N9 Canada (phone #: 705-673-2163) or online at http://themission.ca/donate. Please be sure to mark your donation with "In Memory of Ryan Sidun" so we may thank you properly.

Joe & Nancy Russell: Greg, Brenda & family, Our hearts ache over the loss of your son, Ryan. Being parents of two adult girls, we cannot begin to imagine what you have endured since his passing. We just watched the Celebration of Life you had for him. What a beautiful tribute to his life. We unfortunately never had the privilege of knowing Ryan on a personal level but, through the videos, photos and out pouring of love & respect on the celebration, we feel we know what kind of man Ryan was.... Kind, Generous, Compassionate and free spirited... a direct reflection of you as parents, family, all who loved him. You raised a wonderful young man, be proud of that all the days of your life. We also want to thank you, for in your time of great sorrow you found courage to think of others by bringing light to the cause of Ryan's tragic death. I thank you because, it opened my eyes and inspired me to have a open conversation with my daughters about Ryan and the hidden risks that are in the world of drug use and the heartache it can cause. I believe Ryan would be proud of you all for having the strength to discuss it openly in his name. It will help countless people to prayerfully to seek help, have talks and not go through what Ryan and all of you have. No parent should have to go through what you are, its just not supposed to be that way.. God had a higher calling for Ryan. I know this world was a better place with Ryan in it and I know everyone who got to spend time with him are better people because of it. May you find peace in cherishing every special memory you shared with Ryan, let them be the lights on your path moving forward. God Bless you all. We are her for you in sympathy, prayer, & hope, with love, Joe & Nancy Russell

I saw Ryan last winter when he came to visit my brother Erik in early 2020. Erik was working the Thursday that Ryan was flying in so Erik asked if I'd pick him up and hang with him until he got off work. Thursday morning my alarm went off to get up and head to the airport and I had a text from my brother saying that Ryan's jeep broke down and he missed his flight. I asked if there was any way Ryan was still coming and Erik said "He took his jeep to the shop and will be jumping on the same flight out the following morning". That alone just shows who Ryan was. He would drop anything and do whatever it took to be there for the people he loved. We got to hang out a few different times that weekend. One night we were eating dinner and there was a hockey game playing in the background on TV. We started talking about what sports we love to watch most and Ryan said "I do love hockey, but I enjoy watching football and want to get into it even more. Mikhail plays and he's really good." He lit up when he spoke about his nephew and niece. It was so obvious how much he loved them and loved being an uncle. That same night I got to talk to him about his friendship with my brother. I told him he was the best friend my brother ever had and that I was so grateful for him. Honestly I quickly realized that Ryan probably knew my brother better than anyone else. He had shown so much loyalty to Erik over the years, the kind of loyalty that is so rare and I'm so thankful for. We knew no matter what happened, Erik had Ryan's back and Ryan had Erik's back with no questions asked. He told us funny stories about them in college and told us he couldn't wait to embarrass Erik by sharing some of those stories in his best man speech at Erik's wedding one day. He had us all laughing. The last day he was in NH we went out to lunch and we chatted about jobs, flying, and family. He told us about how Ashley is an incredibly strong woman and an amazing mother. I remember that sticking out to me because my siblings are my best friends and my whole world and I could tell he felt the same way about Ashley as I did about my siblings. He spoke so highly of her. He loved his family beyond words. That weekend is one I will never forget and one that I cherish. Ryan was so loving, kind, funny and caring and I know that's how he lived his life. Thank you Brenda and Greg for raising such an amazing young man, he was certainly something special. We talk of Ryan often in our home and I know that will never end. He will always hold such a special place in all of our hearts. I'm so beyond sorry for your loss. I hope these stories can bring a smile to your face and remind you that Ryan is so loved and he touched countless lives during his short time here on earth. We cannot wait to hug him again someday!

Dear Greg and Brenda and Family Both Norm and I are deeply saddened by your loss. Although we didn't get the opportunity to know Ryan well, we are touched by the kind and compassionate young man that he was. We cannot begin to imagine your pain at his passing but we know that you can take comfort that he rests in the arms of the angels. Sincerest condolences Norm and Karen Lavergne and Family
