Ryan Alexander McPherson
Ryan Alexander McPherson, age 25, passed away peacefully on Monday, (11/04/24) surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Born with a heart full of kindness and a passion for helping others, Ryan leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life lived with purpose.
Ryan is survived by his devoted family: his mother, Sheila; his father, Steve; his sister, Kaity; and his brother, Jason. His family was his foundation, and they remained by his side, offering comfort and strength.
Ryan was a bright light to all who knew him, known for his gentle spirit, his immense capacity to love, and his legendary sense of humor. He was the ultimate goofball, bringing laughter and light-heartedness wherever he went. With his quick wit and infectious smile, he could lift spirits in any room and make even the toughest days brighter.
Ryan worked at Adventures with Mr. Math, a tutoring program dedicated to helping young kids learn math, where he brought joy and encouragement to his students every day. He loved every minute spent with these kids, finding purpose and fulfillment in helping them discover a love for learning. His dedication to each student’s growth and confidence will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of working with him.
A passionate gamer and a dedicated student, Ryan was pursuing a degree in Education with dreams of becoming a math teacher. He looked forward to helping young minds embrace learning, and he would have been an extraordinary mentor, bringing patience, encouragement, and warmth to the classroom.
Ryan loved big and loved hard, touching the lives of so many with his selfless nature. Though his time with us was far too short, his memory will live on in those who had the honor of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but remembered for his gentle soul and the boundless love he gave.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and that friends register with the National Bone Marrow Donor Program in Ryan’s honor.

Ryan was my best and pretty much only friend growing up. We would hang out with each other for days at a time, always celebrating when he was allowed to stay the night. He loved video games sooo much. Even when we were made to play outside as kids, he'd always find a way to come up with the most creative and fun games that would still be related to video games. He was so dear to me, he truly felt like a brother to me. He had such a huge impact on who I came to be, although I envy just how much he didn't care about what others thought about him. He was never afraid to be himself and express his personality in the most endearing ways. I will never forget him and I'll continue sharing memories and stories of my childhood with him until I'm old. He was the best friend I ever could have asked for. I'm happy I was able to be his friend.

From the day I interviewed Ryan for Adventures with Mr. Math, I knew that he was going to be amazing! While his battle with Leukemia spanned his time with us, he never let it dim his excitement and determination for what he loved, teaching kids. Ryan was an essential part in making sure things were organized and ready go for the lesson ahead and I don't know if I ever would have started class on time without him! His passionate nature was something you couldn't help but feed off of, and you couldn't help but become more passionate yourself! What a blessing he was to our program, and to me. Thank you Ryan!

I wasn’t close to Ryan personally outside of high school. Even tho that was he still was firm on the things he enjoyed and the friends he made, that was true strength in my eyes. He never judged me, he never looked at me to be better just as a friend. lol I remember how you presented yourself but mostly how you wanted to be treated. I remember one time you talked bout how you beat a guy up for messing with Kaity. I used to think I had to help you just because you were a brother., but it seems you were stronger than expected ☺️. Even tho we wasn’t close, I still appreciate you showing me that people like me exist. I didn’t think in this world I could ever meet a person like you til I was older but you showed me that it has to start then an now. I give thanks to your loving family for raising you to be a kind hearted person for the world around you. it's difficult to find the right words in this very hard moment. Losing a so loved son or brother is not what we are prepared to. May all the great moments you had together with family and friends overshadow your great sadness.
