Ryan Mak, born on April 12, 2001, in the vibrant city Hong Kong, was a man of refined taste and intellect, taken from us too soon on August 18, 2023. Ryan's life, though short, was marked by an intense passion for his interests and academic pursuits.

He spent his early years in Hong Kong, his birthplace, before moving to San Francisco, California, United States. Ryan was a diligent student, his academic journey taking him from the Diocesan Boys’ School in Hong Kong (2013-2019) to the University of San Francisco (2022-2023). His love for learning was infectious, inspiring those around him to strive for knowledge.

Ryan had diverse interests, ranging from the strategic game of Mahjong, which he enjoyed immensely, to the subtleties of wine tasting that he indulged in. The world of online shows provided him with endless entertainment, while reading allowed him to travel through time and space from his own living room.

Those who knew Ryan remember him as a quiet and thoughtful individual, always ready to listen and share his insights. His memory will forever remain etched in our hearts as we remember a man who lived his life full of curiosity and enthusiasm. His departure has left a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will continue to live on in our memories.

May his soul rest in peace, and his life be an example for all of us to follow.

Lovely son, great brother, smart and talented law student. Ryan Mak has passed away in the hospital at the age of 22 (Aug 18, 2023) from blood vessels blockage in his heart.

Dear Ryan, There are not enough words to explain how sad I am that you are no longer with us on earth. From every spontaneous adventure in SF, to the sassy exchanges we both engaged in, to the potential I had of converting you to a Bay Area r&b/rap music junkie, to the pipping hot tea sessions

I was in a few classes with Ryan at USF. I found him to be exceptionally smart but more than that he was mature and caring. I hardly knew Ryan but I was deeply shocked and saddened to see he had passed. I will miss his thought provoking questions in class and wish the best to his family and loved ones

Ryan was my student this summer in Public Speaking. It was my privilege to get to know him, he was a joy and a pleasure and made the class so much better for everyone. I am so sad to hear that his life was cut short, but am thankful I got to know him.
