Dear Uncle Leong Shu, I have many fond memories of the time spent with you, Aunty Chiew Ping, Wen Lin and Grandma during my childhood. I received much kindness and generosity whenever I stayed over during the school holidays. Those times were memorable and happy. I remember the music you play and introduce me to and I still enjoy listening to them

When I look back at my career with AFIA in the 70s I think of Russ who was my boss and who saw something about me which I was yet to discover. Russ generously encouraged me to switch from secretarial role - secretary to him to IT jobs, a complete positive change in my career path. For this I am eternally grateful to him. After saying goodbye to Russ in the insurance industry with his blessings, he continued to be a big brother and a good friend to me. He inspired me with encouragements and words of wisdom - always finding time for me. I was privileged, including a few old friends, to have a meal with him in June 2023 and now it becomes a memorable dinner with him and Chiew Ping. Dear Russ you will be dearly missed but am consoled that you are now in Paradise with our loving God enjoying eternal bliss and happiness you so deserved. May you rest in peace Amen

He introduced himself as Russ, but we lovingly called him “Papa Soh”; The absolute giant of a human being with the biggest heart. As someone much younger than he was, and in my formative years - he was always careful, immaculate and generous with his nuggets of wisdom, support, praise and criticism (when necessary) - The true mark of a gentleman and royalty in kindness. I love him dearly at 43 East Coast, and he will continuously have my heart in this life and the next. Rest in power, Papa Soh! Until we meet again. Yours, Ben

10 March 2020 - Is the last time I met Uncle Russ.... As usual he was gracious and gentlemanly - he presented me with his latest book Living the Writing. One Man's journey! We are very blessed to have his other 2 books as well. Thank U Uncle Russ! Uncle Russ - you will be deeply missed. I learnt many lessons from you that you can ever imagined . I also resoluted to be a better ... good wife to Ivin because of your first impression of Ivin which I only found out when you shared during one of BA Open worship session! (If you say earlier ...I don't think I will marry Ivin liao haha) To Aunty Chiew Ping, I look up to you and Uncle Russ as the role-model Christian couple. I cannot fathom how much you must miss Uncle Russ. I can only pray and ask God to envelop you in love, grace, and eternity kingdom mindset and wellness. I love you .... (less than Uncle Russ of course) They say an Apple will never fall far from its tree. So I believe Wen Lin and Wen Ming will continue the good legacy that started with Uncle Russ.... To the Sohs.... our deepest condolences but no sympathy because we all know Uncle Russ is in a better place!! Yours in love and prayers, Ivin, Joyce and our kiddos....
