Col Gossick saved my career at Columbus AFB in 1987. He vouched for me to stay in, when medical tried to kick my out for childhood asthma. Word was, he was one hell of a pilot, per the captain IPs that worked with him as execs. He used to talk about his grease low level light being on, which was code for "let's get a bacon egg and cheese sandwich fellas". I really enjoyed my brief time working him. Sincerest condolences to the family of this American hero!

My Uncle Roger was always a generous and kind spirit, with an ability to have a lot of fun throughout life, no matter the circumstances. I think that unique character comes from his Gossick family roots and continues through the way his sister and cousins live life - my mom Cindy Johnson, and Aunts Pat, Susie and Sharon all share that unique Gossick zest for life. I always enjoyed the way Uncle Roger looked at the world with a keen sense of humor and a quick mind. His unique ability to always have a new joke or perspective on things that made me laugh or think about something in a new way was something I looked forward to over the years as his nephew. I have many memories from Gossick family reunions and other times we were together of his hearty laugh and bringing a smile to those around him. He always had a new story as well to share from his adventures and many interesting experiences, and those stories were always well-told and captured my imagination. Also, I value and learned from the way he always put effort over the years getting the extended Gossick family together to make new memories. He loved his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids well, encouraged me in my Air Force and flying career, served faithfully, and reflected so many of the great things about his dad and my grandpa – he very much reminded me of Lee Van Gossick, who was one of my childhood heroes. I am thankful for his love and support! Blue Skies Uncle Roger. You are missed!
