June 21st, 1950 - November 30th, 2022
Rodney "Rod" Andrew Boll, 72, formerly of Anoka/Richfield passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side on November 30th, 2022 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital.
Preceded in death by son Garrett Boll, parents Lawrence (Jennette) Boll, Beulah (Peggy) Piles-Provost-Boll-Tienter, twin sister Rene Boll, sister Mary Jane Vosbourgh, brothers Algene Provost, Jacob Provost, & Dick Provost, & nephew- Randall Mooney.
Survived by daughter Samantha Boll, son Ryan Boll, Michelle Anderson, Grandchildren Jacob Allen and Shayla Gardner, brother Frank Provost, sisters Betty Mae (Dale) Halls, Darlene (Lenny) Wentworth, Linda (Richard) Doering, step-siblings Pat Nitti, Dick Novack, & Lonnie Blum, & many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
Rod was paralyzed in 1977 from a motorcycle accident while on his way to work at Kline Volvo. He has spent the last 45 years fighting and defying all odds against him until he finished his last marathon. If there was a way to do something, Rod would figure it out and didn't let being paralyzed stop him. Rod was a karate instructor and auto mechanic before being paralyzed.
After his accident, Rod became an elite wheelchair athlete in both track and field and basketball. His achievements and accomplishments consisted of being a silver gold medalist at the World Stoke-Mandeville games, silver medalist at the National Wheelchair Games, plus many more national level wheelchair basketball medals, marathon medals, and trophies to highlight all of his victories and triumphs.
Rod's biggest accomplishments in life was being a dad to his three children Garrett, Ryan, and Samantha and "adopted" dad to many of our friends. Friends often gathered at the house to be around him and he loved to be involved with us kids any way he could. He was his nieces and nephews biggest cheerleader at every event. He never wanted to miss a moment and cherished everyone.
Rod had a lot of nicknames including "Hot Rod", "RB", "Roderator", but his favorite, Grandpa Rod. Every child in his life, students of Samantha, and his own loved Grandpa Rod. He had a way of connecting with kids and making them each feel so special and loved. He loved to show off what he could do (wheelies mostly) to put a smile on their face.
There is peace knowing that Rod is now walking streets of gold in heaven next to his son and family. His life is one to be remembered and celebrated for his strength and impact he made on everyone he met.
