Rodelio "Den" "Rod" Ipac Aglibot of Lemoore, California, beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, lolo, ninong, and friend, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at the age of 52. Rodelio was born January 2, 1968, in Subic Bay, Philippines to Reginald and Celestina (Ipac) Aglibot and was raised in Hawaii and California where he later became a United States citizen. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Reginald Aglibot, Jr., and nephew Warren Briones. Rodelio was an award-winning chef in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Italy. He developed dozens of restaurant concepts across the country and abroad and was a trailblazer for the rise of Filipino cuisine. He was creative, talented and passionate in the kitchen and often expressed his love for food and people through his cooking. His adventurous nature led him to many parts of the world to learn, teach and share his passion with others. What Rodelio accomplished in the kitchen paled in comparison to what he accomplished outside of it. He had the gift of cultivating relationships that were immediate and long-lasting. He made first impressions full of positivity and joy. He never met a stranger and was considered family to so many. He made you feel like you were always the priority and to him, you were just that. Rodelio loved as big as the sky and gave of himself selflessly. If you knew Rodelio, you also know that he loved and adored his family, especially his parents Reggie and Sally. He is also survived by sisters Ruby (Aglibot) Byers (Travis) of Villa Rica, Georgia; Rosie Marshall (John) of Lemoore, California; Lyn Nimenzo (Oye) and Arlene Briones of Cabanatuan City, Philippines; seven nieces and nephews, including Frances Parry (William) and Frank Fuerte (Nou) of Lemoore, California, and Caroline Sue Byers of Villa Rica, Georgia; thirteen great-nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; several godchildren; and countless friends around the world whose lives he touched. A private funeral service for immediate family will be held Tuesday, April 7 th, at Phipps-Dale Memorial Chapel, with interment following in the Lemoore Cemetery. Celebrations of Rodelio's life will be planned for a later date. There will be a virtual memorial service Saturday, April 11 th, at 6:00 p.m. PDT. Link on this page. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to start a memorial scholarship fund in Rodelio's honor. Link for Donations on this page

Rodelio consulted on a restaurant I managed in Memphis. The kitchen team would get so nervous when he was coming to visit - they didn't want to disappoint him. We all loved his passion and his sense of humor. And his big, warm hugs! My deepest condolences.

First, my deepest condolences go out to the Aglibot family. I am heartbroken at his loss and I just can't imagine the depth of your pain and I am so very, very sorry. Thank you for bringing such an amazing human being into the world. He was a tremendous gift to me and I will always be so thankful for my time with Rod. I met my dear sweet friend Rod at UCLA. I never again lived in California, but Rod would visit me in the various places I lived, Colorado and Washington State and I would see him in San Francisco and LA and at his restaurants and he would never pass up an invitation to come to my parent's house in San Juan Capistrano when we both happened to be in town. He was just so loving and kind and family oriented and even my Mom just mentioned to me that she had spent an hour long phone conversation (sometime in the 90's I think) talking to him about his hopes and dreams for the future. When he visited S. CA I would bake him chocolate cookies and he told me this last December that he had fond memories of my Mom's Chicken Divan which I always thought was sweet, funny and just so truly, authentically Rod. When I couldn't figure out why my pasta didn't taste right cooing at altitude he said to use kosher salt and I have ever since. He taught me about a proper plate lunch with 2 scoop rice and mac salad. He was the most amazing chef of course and I loved the treat of eating at his restaurants, but I remember his beautiful soul through the simple meals and just being with him and his deep, deep love and joy for all those he met. We had been out of touch many of the years since I settled in CO and started a family but I am so thankful that I had a chance to talk to him for a few days in a row this last December and to tell him how much I cherished our friendship and how much I cared for him and that I was so thankful for all of the times we'd had together. I'm crying again as I write this. He was just simply the best. I love him so very much.
