In loving memory of Robert Stanley (“Bob”) Lasota

November 13, 1941 – March 8, 2025

Robert (Bob) Lasota was the eldest child born to Bruno and Mary Lasota on November 13, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois, both who have preceded him in death. He was 83 years old. He is survived by a sister, Elaine Jarecki and two brothers, Leon and Stanley Lasota and their families. Bob graduated from Foreman High School in Chicago and joined the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country from May 20, 1960 – February 10, 1964 as a Voice Interpretation Processing Specialist in telecommunications, and stationed in Taiwan.

He attained an Associate Degree from DeVry Technical College in Chicago for some postsecondary education, and throughout his career, he worked in technical fields to provide service with cable television installation and repair, writing technical manuals for communications products, and was smart in tackling most mechanical and communications products that households need and use.

In his later years, he applied these skills in support of his beloved wife, Linda Lou Lasota, who was a musician and artist. Applying his talents, he supported her technical needs in musical performance, teaching, and calligraphy. Linda was the love of his life!

He married Linda on August 6, 1993 in Elgin, Illinois at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. They had a vibrant life together, celebrated through dance, music, love of God and their church community, and shared activities with family and friends. They enjoyed many wonderful vacations together too, including time at Holden Village, a spiritual retreat in Washington state. When they first met, they lived in Genoa, Illinois. Later they moved to Athens, Alabama in December 2009, and lived on Caldera Drive amongst a caring community of neighbors.

He was a devoted husband to Linda through “sickness and health.” When Linda experienced declining health in her later years, Bob became a dedicated caregiver to ensure that she could be cared for at home. Linda passed on September 6, 2024, and is survived by a daughter, Pam Brubaker and an older sister, Dorothy Corron, and Pam’s three children, Robbie, Chris, and Tory.

His first marriage was to Carole Lew on June 25, 1967, and together they had three children: Robin, Richard, and Ryan LaSota through the course of their marriage from 1967 through December 15, 1986. As a father, he also was a baseball coach. He loved his children very much! Across the miles from Alabama to the Midwest, he gave his love to his grandchildren, Bridget, Tyler, Bryanne, Drew, and Brady Lasota.

In whatever endeavor he pursued, he gave his all! He enjoyed pickleball, cycling, gardening, and camping.

Rest in peace, Bob, as you join Linda in heaven.

My Memory of Bob will always be of Bob and Linda's Patio Lunch Dates. My husband and I moved to Caldera in 2015 and for as long as I can remember it was always such a genuinely heartwarming moment to look across the street and see Bob & Linda sitting on their front patio eating lunch listening to Jazz and hearing Linda's Laughter echo across as they just enjoyed each other's company. It was truly magical to witness their love. In her later years, when Linda's health was failing Bob would still help carry her out onto the porch for their Lunch Dates. Its a beautiful picture that will remain in my head for all of my life as I endeavor to have Bob and Linda Patio Lunch Dates.

Portia Lang Hamlet

I was blessed to meet Mr. Bob Lasota when our Hospice agency provided care to his late wife, Linda. Mr. Lasota was a devoted husband and Father. He was fiercely independent, enjoyed making healthy meals while displaying his wit and wry sense of humor. My thoughts and prayers are with Robin and the Lasota family Portia Lang Hamlet, LMSW Aveanna Hospice
