Robert N. Earll, December 30, 1935-January 9, 2018, Reno, NV Born in Topeka, KS, son of Robert Nathan Earll, Sr. and Ethel Margaret Greene, Bob grew up in Los Angeles, CA. He leaves two daughters, and his wife, Wilda Earll. Bob had a rough childhood, including being expelled from school in the 10th grade, incarceration, and alcoholism and drug addiction. He has over 50 credits as a writer and producer of shows such as Vega$, Kojak, Ironside, Hill Street Blues, Charlie’s Angels, and many other top TV shows. I met Bobby via a tape someone gave me in the first month or two of my sobriety. He was with me until I misplaced the tape in 1986. Honestly Bobby gave me the hope and a kind of strength that brought me safely through my first year of sobriety. I still think of him…. I think, what would Bobby do? You know I still look for that tape…. AK

I first heard BE when I was newly sober and taken aback by this foul mouthed guy on YouTube in 2012. I was newly sober and forgot him as one does. Fast forward to 2018 and my then sponsor gives me a BE 6 part ACA series. I immediately remembered him and thoroughly wanted to contact him. This was 2/2018 and I found out he died. I was crushed but also intrigued. Here I am 6 years later looking for my ole taped friend. He made me laugh talking about old AA people saying nothing for 30 years. Miss you BE I found you on Audible this week. How cool to see and read all these memorials

Years ago I heard Bob Earll say his sponsees only called him when they wanted to put a gun in their mouth and blow out their brains. And it wasn't over alcohol or drugs. It was over their career, money or women. I immediately knew he was telling my story. My wife had run off with her boss of three months. To get her back I gave her all our life savings and all the equity in our home. And my three partners in our marketing consulting firm, the first job I really loved, let me go because I was destroyed mentally, physically and spiritually. Divorced, unemployed and broke I totaled my BMW into a tree. God had other plans for me. Today as my late sponsor O.K. Sheffield taught me "When I'm okay, everything is okay. I'm happy, joyous and free." Thank you God, Bob Earll. O.K. Sheffield and each one of you.

I got to meet bob later in life jsut before his last divorce and car accident. He wrote a script for us, and dragged me around to Alanon meetings. What a powerful man. Loved him. Opened up to many doors to spirituality and questioned so many things. truly an explorer of humanity and spirit.

The magic of Bob Earll! I was two years sober, sitting in a meeting in an AA mtg in India. Of all places on earth, a woman from New Zealand was hoping for a place to take a warm shower . On a business trip, I had a swanky hotel room, and handed her a key. When I returned that evening there on the desk was a lovely note with a cassette of Bob speaking. Blown away by his honesty and his acceptance of anger and finding self compassion - I passed it on to the angry guy I was dating ha! A few years later I was in LA at a meeting during the day. Wouldn’t you know it Bob was there! We ended up going to lunch that day. God works in mysterious and magical ways. He has had a profound impact on my life and countless others. God Bless you Bob !

His existence and thirst for recovery is why so many people are alive today. I heard his tapes at 5 years sober and it was life changing. I have hundreds of his talks on tape. I still listen to him toy this day at 25 years sober. This man is a man among men and a voice that breaks through the fear and dogma of recovery.
