Robb Evans passed away Thursday, August 26th. He was 80 years old.

At his request, no services will be held.

Robb was a 5th generation Californian, born in Santa Barbara at Cottage Hospital to Arthur Evans and Carmelita Jansen. He graduated from Hart High School in Newhall and received his degree from CSU Northridge. He met the love of his life, Linda, in Bakersfield and they were married for 59 years.

Robb worked his way through the banking industry: starting out as a teller and working his way to Chairman of the board of a number of respected institutions. During his career, he was an international and domestic banker, fiduciary, and chief executive officer of six banks. He was a Trustee, managing the United States government’s interest in the BCCI matter. Robb was a past President of the California Bankers Association and was named California’s 2012 “Distinguished Banker of the Year.” His company, a federal regulatory firm, continues to be trusted and respected in the industry

He and his wife spent joyful years fixing up their beach house in Cambria, hosting parties, and enjoying the grandchildren. Robb is survived by his wife, Linda, his two sons, their wives, and two talented grandchildren.

Robb’s favorite place was Cambria.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve.

I didn’t know Robb for that long but he certainly left a lasting impression on me. I had the pleasure of driving him to semi-monthly board meetings at Sierra Bank, to the Jonathan Club in downtown LA, and to his company headquarters in LA. I enjoyed our conversations and appreciated the wisdom he was able to impart to me. Robb was so down to earth and insisted on sitting in the front seat next to me rather than in the back seat like other clients. He became more than a client, he was a friend and when the pandemic caused him to no longer need our services, I missed him and our good conversations. RIP my friend, you are a good man who helped and influenced many. My wife and I wish all the best for Linda and family during this difficult time.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Mr. Evans’ passing. He was the boss I’ve always looked up to, and was like a second father to me, having worked for more than two decades as his secretary. The first time I met Mr. Evans was when he and his team walked-in and took over as Liquidator of the infamous BCCI in 1991. I was terrified, not knowing what the future held for us employees of the defunct company. Little did I know, behind that imposing 6’3 figure that stood in front of us was a kind-hearted and down-to-earth leader, who later brought the Robb Evans & Associates LLC receivership into fruition, in which I became a part of. Mr. Evans, words cannot express my gratitude to you and Mrs. Evans for all that you’ve done for me and my family. My deepest condolence to Mrs.Evans and to the rest of the Evans/Jansen family. Farewell my dear ‘Boss’ - you will be sorely missed. Rest In Peace…

Robb was a man of wise words! Unfortunate we weren't able to get to Bakersfield the past years but will always remember spending time with Robb and Linda at their house in Bakersfield and Cambria. Prayers go out to Linda and the Evans and Jensen families!

Robb was a top notch banker who thrived in any environment no matter the country or the bank. Whether it was the smallest, or the largest, a start-up, or a bank to bring back to health or bring to an end. He did it all and he did it well. I can think of no one who had a more varied banking career, or who helped more people, including me, throughout his long career. I knew him as a mentor, a boss, a co-worker and I enjoyed him as a friend going back over 50 years. My sympathies are with Linda who he loved so much and his family who he was so proud. May he Rest In Peace.

It’s hard to compose a tribute to Robb. He was the consummate banker. His expertise covered a wide range of the banking world. I think his first employer was Bank of America where he started as a teller. He then rose up in the ranks and acquired the knowledge and contacts to contribute to his success in many different banking environments. From the San Fernando Vally to Hong Kong and Seattle and manny postings in between. I think often of the many people that he interviewed and hired for employment at the banks. The selection of these individuals provided careers that benefited not only the bank, but added to the welfare of the many families of those employed. Can you imagine the number of customers that benefited from his lending and administration in the banks that he was involved with? It is hard to comprehend. He was a good judge of people and as a result, was able to comfortably be both a lender and advisor to small and large customers of the bank. They reciprocated by being good and profitable clients. Later in his career, he formed Robb Evans & Associates which acted as financial advisor to many banks and in a fiduciary capacity and trustee, for a number of law firms and government agencies such as the Federal Trade Administration His friendship with me was one that I valued. In my own banking activity, he was a knowledgeable advisor and helped me with some decisions that benefited both me and the bank that I was involved with. In closing, I want to leave my sincere condolences to Linda, his family and many friends. RIP Robb
