Richard Joseph Naar

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Joseph Naar, who left us peacefully on June 27, 2025, at the age of 85 in St. Catharines, Ontario.

 

Born in Croatia on March 14, 1940, Richard built a life rooted in hard work, family, and quiet strength. He dedicated his career to Dofasco, where he was known for his commitment and tireless work ethic. Outside of work, Richard found joy in his garden and a deep sense of peace in the outdoors. He was never one to sit still—always staying busy with purpose and care.

 

Richard was a devoted husband to Lise, and a proud and loving father to Angela, Michael, and Lisa. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren—Derek, Jared, Christopher, Andrew, and Alexander—and his two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Judah, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

 

In accordance with his wishes, Richard has been cremated. A private service will be held on Friday, July 4th, with family in attendance. Those who wish to attend or offer condolences are invited to contact the family directly for details.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Niagara Health, in honour of Richard’s memory and in support of the care he received.

 

Richard will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who knew him.
