Richard Mengollo

This memorial was created in memory of our beloved Richard Mengollo. He will be forever missed and we will love him always. Richard Mengollo, also known as "Pops", "Boy", or "Papa" to many close to him, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021. He was a fun-loving, kind-hearted, down-to-earth soul who brightened up the room when he was there. He was the eldest of 6 siblings, a wonderful husband to his wife Ethel, and a loving father to his children, Rommel, Russell, and Ria. He was a police officer in Manila and was a strict father with such a big heart. He loved his children and especially his grandchildren. They gave him so much joy (and some grief but mostly joy)! He was so proud of their accomplishments and always encouraged and supported them. At every opportunity, he would attend their basketball games and their recitals. He loved to sing. He can sing all night on the Karaoke but always wanted singing companions. He enjoyed watching all the singing shows but wasn't too keen on Simon. He also loved to dance particularly the Cha Cha, Boogie, Line Dancing, and the Tango. If you have ever seen him dance, it was so graceful. He was so happy to be on the dance floor. Traveling was one of his favorite hobbies. He would go on cruises with his wife and friends. He really enjoyed his trip to Alaska on the Princess Cruise Line. He loved the serene and peaceful views! Papa will leave a huge void in our hearts and the parties will never be the same without him. The viewing and funeral service will be as follows: Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park and Funeral Home 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward CA 94544 Viewing - March 15, 2021 between 4:00pm - 7:00pm Funeral Mass - March 16, 2021 12:00pm - 1:30pm Burial - March 16, 2021 1:45pm The reception will take place after the burial.
