July 26th, 1960 - June 5th, 2023
Richard Layman , 62, of Marietta OH passed away peacefully at Marietta Memorial Hospital on Monday, June 5th, 2023. Born in Marietta OH to the late Richard L. Layman and Nina Layman-Byer, Richard then moved with his family to Rock Hill, SC where he graduated from Rock Hill High School. Richard went on to serve his country in the United States Navy, gaining valuable experience for his career as a pipefitter, where he traveled the East Coast working various nuclear power outages for many years. Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Melissa Riley and survived by his beloved wife, Merilyn Layman, his loving sister, Paula Oates (Alan), his children Brandon Layman, Blake Layman, and Mimi Layman, whom he adored. Richard is also survived by two grandchildren, Ian and Layla, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A private celebration of life will be held for close family and friends at a later date. Richard's family would like to extend their gratitude to Marietta Hospice Care, an Amedisys Partner, for all the care and support their staff rendered during a most difficult time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mid-Ohio Valley Cremation Society.
