Sadly missed along life’s way, quietly remembered every day. No longer in our life to share, but in our hearts, you’re always there. RIP Rico

I met Richard (Dickey) in Idaho Falls. We lived two houses apart on Beacon Drive. My family moved to Pocatello when I was 7 but we often return to Idaho Falls to visit friends on our way to vacation in Yellowstone. I remember Dickey as quite the entrepenuer, trapping minnows in the stream behind our homes, then selling them as bate to fishermen, along with earthworms we'd trapped on our lawns. He was fond of flying kites, most of them made from scratch in his basement. He would fly them so high that you could barely see them. We'd ride our bikes all over North Idaho Falls with playing cards attach to the spoke so that they would sound like motorcycles. At least we thought so, especially when 8 or ten of us rode together. The really made a racket. We would be gone all day and not return home until dinner-time. There was a park across the street from our homes where we would start pick-up baseball games. The railroad yarde were only about 3 blocks east and just Northeast from our neighborhood was a hobo encampment not too far from where we would catch our minnows. The hobos would regale us with tales of their travels and share their roasted marshmallows with us. I guess the last time I saw Dickey was during one of our vacations to Yellowstone. I was 12 and Dickey 13. By then we had moved on to Salt Lake City, and the increased distance reduced our travels northward. In later years with the advent of the internet I made numerous attempts to locate Dickey, all to no avail. Today, however, I did a search on legacy.com and found his obituary....about a month too late, as it turns out. I would have loved to talk with him about old times and the friends we grew up with....Shauna Nelson, Danny Payne, Roy Martin and a few others. I am so sorry for your loss and words just can't express my grief, even considering this long passage of time. God bless you, Richard. Perhaps we'll meet again soon as my own health is rapidly deteriating.
