Richard Demchak
December 19th, 1957 - March 15th, 2021
December 19th, 1957 - March 15th, 2021
On Monday, March 15, 2021, Richard (Rick, Rich) Demchak, loving husband, brother, uncle and cousin was called home to glory at the age of 63.
Rick was born on December 19, 1957 in Cleveland, OH to John and Ethel (Semsak) Demchak. He grew up in Maple Heights. Rick was a computer programmer for over 35 years. In 2000 he married Marion Siegfried.
Rick had a passion for sports, music, trains and maps. He often impressed and stumped others with his encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. In his youth he played football and hockey. He often attended Todd Rundgren concerts where he made many good friends. When able, Rick frequently was in his basement playing with his trains, planning his perfect layout. His love of maps made him an excellent companion when going on trips for he never got lost. He was also known for his sense of humor. Even during the difficult times, Rick could still put out a joke or two.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, John, and his mother, Ethel. He is survived by his wife Marion, his brother Rob (Donna) Demchak, his sister Kathleen (Tim) Adam, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later time. In an ongoing desire to help others, Rick donated his body to research. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amazing Grace Evangelical Church (amazingepc.com), 5632 Wilson Mills Rd., Highland Hts, OH 44143.

I worked with Rick at Reliance Electric in the 90's. He was one of the nicest guys to work with, always upbeat and had interesting (usually Todd) stories! We attended a Todd show about 12 years, Rick was in a wheelchair at the time, but he was his usual jovial self. I was glad to have known him. R.I.P. Rick

I met Rick in 1989 when I worked at Reliance Electric in the 80's/90's through 2001. I worked in Athens, Georgia and he was in the RGO office, in Cleveland. He struck up this conversation with me in 1989 with this pre-Internet form of instant messaging that we used to submit mainframe batch jobs. He asked me what was fun about Athens, GA and that turned into numerous conversations via that method. We talked sports, rock and roll (and of course, Todd!!!). He and his friend Ed came to visit me in 1993. And, I came to Cleveland in 1994 to visit him. I met his brother in law, Tim, and they showed me around Cleveland when I was there. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing and the health problems he had through the years. To all of his family and many friends, you're in my thoughts and prayers. He was a great guy.

Rich and I met January 1966. We moved across the street from his family and we became quick friends. Rich introduced me to baseball and football. We were fortunate to live in a neighborhood that had lots of kids and we shared so many memories playing neighborhood games and discovering music. I recall many evenings in his basement playing with his Lionel trains and playing 45s of our favorite music. As I sit here trying to write this so many memories flood my mind bike hikes playing with Matchbox cars and Hot Wheels cars just to share a few. In our pick up games of football or basketball Rich and I were often on the same team or it was the Toms against the Riches as there was two boys 3 years younger than us that were also named Tom & Rich. As I share there is just not enough room to collect and write about all the memories and shared secrets. So in closing Rich I thank you for so many early memories and introducing me to sports and fun times together. Bless your wife Marion for being by your side and sharing a strong bond of love.
