Richard Paul Davis
September 22nd, 1979 - September 21st, 2021
September 22nd, 1979 - September 21st, 2021
In the late morning hours of September 21, 2021, just one day before his 42nd birthday, Richard Paul Davis, a gentle giant of a man, slipped the surly bonds of earth and touched the face of God. Richie died from Covid in Marietta Memorial Hospital surrounded by family in a fashion so sadly familiar in the internet age. He was born September 22, 1979, in Zanesville, Ohio. Richie was slow to anger and quick to smile. He adored his nieces and nephews. He had great fun with them, and they all miss him terribly. His mother, Mary Rohrbough Davis Carpenter will never get over the loss of her middle son. Richie’s father Jackie Lee Davis Sr, died of cancer when Richie was quite young. Richie and his two brothers, Austin Wayne Davis, and Tommy Ogle Davis Sr grew up rough and tumble and developed an unbreakable bond. They were happiest when they were all together. Richie’s heart led him through life. Spending time laughing and joking with family and friends was his absolute favorite thing. He dearly loved his dogs, often saying that they were his kids, since he did not have the desire to be a father himself. He loved to tinker and fix things and loved fishing. He was a skilled artist in pencil with a talent that left many in awe. There were many an evening that company would see him lost in concentration working on a project. Left behind to cherish his memory are his mother Mary Carpenter, older brother, Austin and his wife Misty, and their two children, Hunter, and Bella: younger brother, Tommy, his ex-wife Deidre Conrad and their children, Tommy Jr (fiancée Cassie, and children Axal and Atlys), Jackson (fiancée Skyler Wamsley and their children Khalton and Saraya-Jade), Nate, Dasia, Isiah, and Connie. The children want everyone to know that Richie was a wonderful uncle to them, and they loved him because he was their Uncle Richie, the one who made them feel special. His nieces and nephews will never forget how fun and funny he was. His mother will never forget her gentle giant. He is preceded in death by his father Jack Davis Sr, stepfather Dan Carpenter, maternal grandparents Lucille and James Rohrbough, and paternal grandparents Cuba and Ogle (Horsey) Davis. Special thanks to Richie’s cousin, Genny Renee Rohrbough, a nurse at Marietta Memorial Hospital, who gave of herself and cared for Richie with skill at a time when no family could be near. Thanks to friends and family who assisted with costs, brought food, shared memories, prayed, reached out to us, and cried with us.
