Retta Christiane Olsen

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Retta Christiane Olsen. Retta was born at Inova Fairfax Hospital on October 4, 2023 at 23 weeks due to complications from pregnancy. She lived for three days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and went home to be with her Father in Heaven on October 7,2023. Though she was with us such a short time, she was cherished and loved, and will be forever in our hearts.

Retta is survived by her parents, Luke Daniel, Philippa Anne, her two sisters Charlotte Evelyn (10), and Emma Grace (7), as well as her grandparents Ken and Carol Olsen, Geoff and Susan Castiaux, her uncles Matthew Olsen, Zane Olsen, and James Martin, her aunt Amanda Martin, her cousins Randi and Piper Martin, and her great-grandfather William Weise.

Our family sincerely appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and support, especially from the communities at the Basilica of Saint Mary and the Falls Church Anglican.

Funeral mass will be held at the Basilica of Saint Mary, 310 S. Royal St, Alexandria VA 22314 on Thursday October 19 at 10:30am. You can also watch virtually with this livestream link:

There will be a reception following mass at Murphy’s Grand Irish Pub at 713 King Street in Alexandria.
