So very not to be able to say goodbye in person Raya. Thanks for all your scholarship and insight as a Jungian scholar and your dedication to higher education. Miss you always. Sin Yi

I only found out today that Raya passed away back in December. I had the privilege of being one of her students as an undergraduate, and later working as a PGR tutor across a couple of modules she convened in the School of Social Sciences - across our working relationship, I was always grateful for the enormous experience she brought with her. I will never forget the advice she shared with me when I initially applied for funding for my PhD - advice I still think of often, five years further down the line: Don't give up if you aren't successful this time, because getting to be in academia isn't just about ability - you need a decent amount of luck along the way, too. Thank you for your wisdom, Raya!

Although Raya and were colleagues for several years, we didn't have an opportunity to work closely until we were co-supervising a doctoral student. During our conversations, I learned we both shared a love and appreciation for Japan and Japanese culture. Raya spoke fondly of her many trips and the time she spent there, and my own experiences in Japan were enhanced by her memories, experiences and insights. Raya was a generous and amiable colleague, and I feel fortunate in having the opportunity to know her better and to share that connection with her.

Raya, I feel so fortunate to have known you, a truly kind soul who believed in me since I began my PhD in 2020. Your kindness, support, and constant care have left an indelible mark on me and your loss is deeply felt across our entire school. I will always remember how you reassured me with a smile whenever I expressed my worries, telling me, "You'll be fine." Those words are a guiding light for me now more than ever, especially in finishing this PhD journey without you in sight. I miss you so much.

As my lead supervisor, Raya was incredibly helpful throughout my first three years of PhD study. She had expressed keen interest in reviewing my completed thesis before she went to the hospital in Nov. 2023. Sadly, she did not have the opportunity to read the full thesis. However, her final email to me, received three weeks before her passing, said: I have faith in you. This stood as a testament to her unwavering faith in my work. Her dedication, sense of responsibility, and ever-present willingness to assist were invaluable, and she will always be remembered and loved by me.
