                                                      RENA MAE SHEDRICK-MARSHALL

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Rena Mae Shedrick-Marshall, 75, died peacefully at home with her husband and family by her side on Oct. 1, 2021.

Rena was born on April 12, 1946 in Washington, D.C., the oldest daughter of Gussie Ingram and Reamer Shedrick, Sr.

She worked for the American Red Cross as Disaster Services Director in Hampton, VA, a position from which she retired. Moving to Hamlet in 2002, she was manager at the Rockingham Red Cross chapter for over a year. Rena spent many happy years as a Carolina Pines Gril Scout 'Uniquely Me' program coordinator. As a member of the Hamlet Lions Club, she had a term as president and was 1st Vice District Governor for District 31F.

Rena is survived by her husband of 25 years, Raymond Marshall; 4 children, Verna Coleman, Cornell Lanier, Christopher Lanier and Stanley Hall; 4 step-children, Jennifer Marshall, David Marshall, Michael Marshall and Lisa Strickland; 12 grand children and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 sisters, Violet Smith, Elindra Garvin, and Sandra Moens, and a brother, Reamer Shedrick, Jr.

Besides spending time at various family events, Rena had a passion for traveling and enjoying life. She had a bright, energetic personality and was known for her ability to sense when people needed her help. Rena touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life.

A 'Celebration of Life' took place at from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 16, 2021 at Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 E. Washington St., Rockingham.
