Roland Jon Kailihiwa Sr.

June 8, 1966 – June 24, 2024

With heavy hearts, we share the sudden passing of Roland Jon Kailihiwa, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Roland, 58, of Ewa Beach, HI, left us unexpectedly on June 24, 2024. Born on June 8, 1966, Roland lived a life filled with love, joy, and a deep bond with his family and friends.

Roland is the loving husband of Melony “Mel” Kailihiwa. For 38 years, they shared a life full of affection and unforgettable moments. One of Roland's favorite things was spending quiet evenings at the beach with Mel, watching the sunset and soaking in the simple beauty of those moments. He found much happiness and peace in these peaceful times by the ocean.

As a father, Roland was endlessly supportive and loving toward his sons, Ransen, Rusten, and Roland Jr. He was their biggest fan, always cheering them on in their personal and professional endeavors. Roland took immense pride in their accomplishments. He loved visiting their studios, admiring their art, and celebrating their achievements. His encouragement and belief in them were unwavering. Roland's pride in his boys shone through to anyone who knew him, and he took great joy in their successes. His guidance and love were the bedrock of their lives, and his legacy will continue to inspire them.

Roland also adored his role as “Papa” to his grandchildren, Kamele O Nalani, Mikaela, and Valentino. He loved spending time with children, finding pure joy in their laughter and innocence. His heart was filled with joy whenever he was with them, whether playing games, telling stories, or giving comforting hugs. The love and wisdom he shared with his grandchildren will be cherished forever.

Roland’s warm smile and infectious personality made everyone around him feel welcome and valued. He was a genuine people person, always lifting others' spirits with his kindness and humor. He was the best listener, always ready with a kind word or a bit of advice. Roland loved to joke, laugh, and share stories, bringing joy to every gathering. His generosity knew no bounds; he would give you the shirt off his back if needed. Roland was incredibly down-to-earth and easygoing, with a loving nature that drew people to him. His presence lit up any room, and his ability to connect with people was truly special.

Roland’s family extended beyond his immediate loved ones. He is survived by his sister Kimmi, siblings Kelli and Derick, and his extended Kailihiwa and Ancheta families, including his mother Angie, father Ernie, and brothers E.J. -wife:(Candice) and Beau -wife:(Denese). His generous spirit and genuine care touched his nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, and countless friends.

Roland was also a treasured member of the Resolute Ohana. His colleagues and friends deeply valued his unwavering dedication and the joy he brought to every moment. Roland had a remarkable gift for lifting spirits and making everyone feel special. His positive energy and genuine care for others left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Roland’s memory will live on in the hearts of those lucky enough to be touched by his kindness and love.
