Professor Barrie K Hanchard

We regret to announce the sudden passing of Dr. Barrie Hanchard, Professor of Pathology and former Head of Department, University of West Indies on Thursday August 1, 2019. He was an eminent lecturer, Director of the Jamaica Cancer Society, and Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and of Edinburgh. He leaves behind wife Dr. Sonia Thomas Hanchard, son Dr. Neil Hanchard (daughter-in-law Suzanna), grandsons Daniel and Matthew Hanchard, sisters-in-law Maxine Turner (Thomas), Dawn Ottey (Franklin, deceased), and Carol Coore (Michael), as well as numerous relatives, colleagues, trainees, friends and extended family. He will be greatly missed by all.
