Pete's dad and my mom are cousins. I have memories of Jerry bringing his son's on many adventures. some times those adventures and trips would bring them thru central Minnesota, where i lived. Jerry was always good to stop and visit. My favorite thing about Pete was his bigger than face smile and the twinkle in his eyes. Gail (Borgrud) Gregoire

Hi Auggie, Unfortunately, I have never met your father but I was good friends with your mom in high school. I had moved to Forest Hills at the end of our sophomore year in high school and your mom and I became quick friends. Your mom is awesome by the way and I miss spending time with her. Anyways,I remember really well how excited she was when she met your dad. She was on spring break and when she got back home, she called me up and told me that she met a really funny, nice, smart, artistic guy who is really cute and who likes alternative music. I could tell that she was really into him. ❤️ I also had to smile to myself because when your mom was describing your dad, she could have been describing herself!

What I remember most of Peter is his love for being part of Auggie’s baseball games, training with me at 5:00am for swims and bike rides as we both prepared for ironman events, coffee at Ladro, traveling to Florida to watch and support Peter in Ironman Florida, Chelan weekends for yet other triathlons, seeing him at the YMCA working out, and then low and behold there he is on Oprah. He had a smile that was a mile wide, and an extremely kind heart and soul. I do miss him.

Peter's light was always the brightest in the room. My favorite memories are of his laugh, his generosity, his dry sense of humor and his love for his kid. Peter was that dad who would say, "I get to take Auggie to baseball. I get to take Auggie to school." So many dads 'have to' do that stuff. Not Peter. He realized and relished in the distinct gift it was to spend time with Auggie. Every time I see someone running in a visor with spiky hair, I think of him. Every time I think about getting tickets to an Alan Doyle show, I think of him.

One of my favorite memories of Peter is how he was our little neighborhood's group Dad. When I worked from home and the kids were still small, all summer long he would sit at the top of the cul de sac every afternoon and oversee all of them. He made it possible for my kids to have a little bit more freedom up and down our hill. Miss his great smile and jovial, positive attitude!

How I remember Peter is simply the joy and happiness he had when he would pick up Auggie from preschool. He always was so so excited to see Auggie and truthfully, was the dad that every kid loved seeing, he would light up the room with the energy he brought. I know now, being a parent, that light was because of Auggie!". And Auggie was so excited to tell his daddy about his day when he saw him as well. Great father and great person.
