Paul Timothy Stearns Sr., passed away quietly in his Barrigada home on Guam, in the early morning hours on January 5, 2022. Paul was born in Morristown, New Jersey, on July 15, 1956 and was survived by his two sons, Tim and Joe Stearns. He was a loving father and a joy to all that knew him. He proudly served in the United States Army for 22 years before retiring with full military honors as a Seargent First Class. He grew up in a loving home, where he learned the core values of faith, family, honesty and respect which were instilled in him by his parents, and he embodied those values throughout his life. Paul had a wonderful way of making those around him feel comfortable and his infectious smile and laugh were known to light up a room. He enjoyed playing and watching sports, working out, going to the movies, and indulging in ice cream in addition to many other things. He was always willing to help his fellow man, and after retiring from the military and civil service, he continued to help retired veterans which later became his passion in life. Paul was loved by his family and friends and will greatly be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. During his last conversation with his son Tim, he mentioned that he felt highly favored and blessed and that, he was completely at peace with the life he lived. He wouldn’t want anyone to be overly sad in his passing, but would rather, those who knew him reflected on the great memories they had together. To be absent from the body is to be in the presence of our Creator. Rest in peace Paul!

Paul Stearns, was a selfless person who was always trying to encourage and uplift others. I have had many wonderful experiences with this brother, setting up for science fairs at school, three point shootouts at the gym, guess at my wedding, and one of the most reliable workout partners; biking all over Sagamihara Japan, swimming, walking and anything to stay healthy. He was a great source of motivation to both of my athletic sons. Brother I wish you peace you deserve it.

I had the opportunity to meet Paul in 2009. He was very personable and welcoming. He was passionate about life and especially sports. A wonderful guy! He sent me a Happy New Year’s message and I responded with “praying that 2022 brings you renewed health”. My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.
